Norman Tebbit hits nail on head regarding the votes for prisoners issue

Mr Tebbit said:

“……..As usual the Lib Dems displayed their morbid adoration of anything with the prefix “European” in its name, which will have encouraged the ECHR. Together with the prospect of prisoners suing for compensation for the lack of voting rights, that may have begun to erode the Prime Minister’s resolve to resist the Court’s demands.

There is however a simple way to deal with such nonsense. First of all, ignore the whinnies from the Lib Dems. Then Parliament should simply legislate that it would be contrary to our law to make such payments, or that if made they would be forfeit to the Crown. Or Parliament could decide that there would be no legal aid for such actions and “compensation” could be limited to purely nominal sums for each election missed.

In the meantime the Attorney General should be despatched to Strasbourg to tell these upstart and insolent judges that they had best back down.”

I’m not surprised that the Liberal Democrats are acting in this almost treasonously obstructive manner over a matter of great symbolic importance.  Because if we as a nation cannot decide who votes then what sort of sovereignty is that?

Excellent and well worth a read here

A couple have had three foster children removed from their care because they belong to the UK Independence Party.

Rotherham Borough Council said the children were “not indigenous white British” and that it had concerns about UKIP’s stance on immigration.

It said it had to consider the “needs of the children longer term”.

The unnamed couple told the Daily Telegraph social workers had accused them of belonging to a “racist party”. UKIP said it was an appalling decision.

    • I’ve just seen that story and I’m F***ing appalled.

I’m with Christopher Booker in that the power of social workers needs to be reined in.

There is also the case (no link at present) of a woman in the North of England who is pregnant and the Social Services are threatening to take the baby in the delivery room because she has spoken out in favour of the EDL.

Now I’m no great fan of the EDL but the EDL’s rhetoric is no way as violent or as nasty as some of the stuff preached by Islamic preachers. I don’t recall any statements from EDL about killing people, which is the sort of thing that is standard fare from Islamic preachers who call for the deaths of Jews, Christians, Gays etc etc.

  2. So at least the PTB accept that there are people who are “Indigenous white British” ?
Phew! Thats a relief, after 40 years of relentless propaganda to the contrary I was starting to think that we didnt exist.

    • It’s not just the white British for whom pandering to criminals and fellating the EU is a problem. It affects all honest hardworking citizens who ever we are The more I see of he Lib Dems the more untrustworthy and scummy they appear.

If a lib dem told me it was raining outside I’d go and check.

  3. Its long past time that the big 3 parties were gotten rid of and some new political blood injected into the system.
They have become so addicted to the powers and perks that go with high office that they now see it as their inalienable right.
“HOW DARE YOU FILTHY PLEBS CHALLENGE US AND HOLD US TO ACCOUNT!!?”
They have forgotten that the power they so enjoy is only on loan to them from us,the people……..you know,we ordinary folk, the ones who grow stuff and make stuff and sell stuff and fight their wars and haul away the rubbish and pay taxes and actually make this country work.
God, I hate politicians. With a few honourable exceptions they are liars, thieves, traitors and self serving treacherous cunts, every damn one of them.

  4. We most definately need a way to remove MPs from office between general elections if they`re not doing their job properly and be able to say NO! to party drones being parachuted into seats that they have no connection to or knowledge of.

and I think the Roman Republic was onto something when they decreed a Consul could only hold office for one term and then had to stand down.

    • I believe that Cameron mentioned something about ‘recall’ but as usual hasn’t delivered.

I can see a reason for party central imposing candidates when the local party is possibly bent as with Labour in Rotherham (this applies to all parties) but normally the local party (whatever) should have the final say.

The professionalising of politics has been a disaster for democracy.
