Look no copper wires !!!

Model 28 Teletype machine – unlike a modern computer it probably came with it’s own specially trained operator who had their own set of tools and who knew how to use them.

I’ve decided that I really need to enter the 21st century and make this blog mobile friendly.  This has now been done and apologies for the short drop in the internet vitriol level whilst this site has been off and the whizz-bang bleeding edge mobile software is now working properly (I hope).  Many thanks to the nice people in Utah where my server lives for sorting out the problem.

(mumble, mumble, new technology, mumble, mumble, thermionic valve, mumble, mumble, why do they make these new fangled transistors so bloody small,  I remember this place when it was all telex machines and teleprinters and 30Mb of memory needed mortgage level funds to buy )

  1. Ah my child I can remember when every bit was a 3mm Ferrite doughnut hand wired by little old ladies in Scotland and a 64 Kw word memory (64 * 1024 * 4 *6 bits) cost £64000. That was when a word was four six bit bytes.

Good Morning. The scary thing is that there are probably people growing up who will never know a memory chip LESS than half a gigabyte and probably will look at me in disbelief if I tell them that I remember taking a 20MB piece of artwork to a printers spread across over 20 floppy discs.
