Something a bit different. A great and inspiring film

Watched this the other week. A truly fabulous and inspiring film.  It is about a Dutch shipyard manager who during the Nazi occupation of the Nederlands, starts out by acting as a Quisling because it appears to be the easier option, but who later ends up helping the Resistance.

Such a contrast to Britain where our politicians, civil servants, police and many others in authority, like to think of themselves as heroes, but are really just dirty, cowardly Quislings.

You mentioned The Three Lions the other week. I took a peek at a clip on line and it made me chuckle. I was also delighted to see Julia Davies is in it… a female comical genius in my opinion.

It is a fabulous film is ‘Lions’.

One of the good things about The Silver Fleet is it shows how even in an ‘un-networked’ time like the 1940’s people could still organise effectively against the Nazis.

The lesson that I take from the film is that counterjihadists today rely too much on the Internet, which is easily monitored by ‘Cheltenham’ and others. Because of this we as counterjihadists need to be looking again at ‘offline’ methods of rousing people from their slumber. Don’t forget that much of the early rabble rousing by Bin Laden et al was done by analogue video cassettes, audio tape and printed material. Such physical media although cumbersome does have the advantage of having the originator separated from the distribution network.

With connected media it is very easy for ‘Cheltenham’ to pinpoint where the distributor is located. Analogue tapes, which few now have the equipment to read, could be replaced with portable digital media like SD cards and disc based ROM for distribution. The place of printed material should also not be overlooked.
