Quote of the Day – On the subject of Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats

Would you buy a used car or slightly soiled economic policy from this man? I wouldn’t.

From the commentator Peter63 on Iain Martin’s Telegraph blog

“The one good thing about the LibDems in office since 2010 is that they have been completely exposed: crazy policies which most people emphatically do not want, chaotic behaviour in office and among themselves. They have had three and a half years in which to show everyone that, after more than 80 years in the wilderness, they were the political party this country needs; and they have exhibited every kind of reason for being junked in future.

There is nothing like over-promotion for revealing the truth about anyone.

Tacitus said it all in his fabulously caustic compressed Latin when commenting on General Galba’s assumption of the Roman Imperial purple in AD 68: “capax imperii, nisi imperasset”. My very free translation: ‘Well suited for government, unless he actually governed’. “

Not much to disagree with there.  The activities, policies and actions of the Lib Dems especially since 2010, have shown just why they have not been taken seriously for 80 years.  The slippery  ‘all things to all men’ policy that the Lib Dems used when they were primarily a party of local government just doesn’t work on the national stage and the party has been exposed as being statist, authoritiarian,  economically unrealistic, frankly treasonous in the way it promotes the EU over British interests, and idiotically pro-immigration.   If the choice at the ballot box was purely between a Lib Dem candidate or a lump of rock adorned with a multicoloured rosette, I’d vote for the lump of rock on the grounds that it would make a more effective, honest and loyal elected representative than would the Lib Dem.
