Gay people should stay safe and stay away from Islamic s***holes.

Ray Cole currently being held in a Moroccan prison.

The arrest by Moroccan authorities of an elderly Gay British man for what seems merely to be the ‘crime’ of being Gay should be a wake up call to Britain’s LGB communities. It should be a powerful lesson on what life is like for LGB people in backward and savage Islamic societies.

Because of the arrest of Ray Cole of Deal in Kent gay people should have a long think and consider whether or not they really want to put money in the pockets of these stone-age shariah shitholes by travelling there? Every UK pound spend in places like Morocco helps to prop up terribly oppressive regimes that treat LGB people like dirt. Look at it this way, a gay person would probably not want to spend their money in a shop that discriminated against gay people nor should they spend their money in countries that operate the same or worse discriminatory policies.

It’s about time that gay people realised that something as minor as having a compromising picture on a phone or even saying that you are gay, which wouldn’t be an issue in the UK, sends the Bearded Savages of Islam into full ‘kill, kill, kill’ mode.

Here’s how the BBC have reported this story.

The family of a 69-year-old British man jailed for “homosexual acts” in Morocco say they they are “incredibly worried” about him.

Ray Cole, from Deal in Kent, and his Moroccan partner were held by police who asked to see his phone while he was waiting at a bus stop in Marrakech.

Mr Cole’s family said he was jailed for four months on Thursday.

Gemma Scott-Hake, his daughter, said: “I’m very concerned. We really need to see if we can get him released.”

She said: “We first realised that no-one could get hold of him when he didn’t contact me on my birthday.

“A few days later I was told by my brother that there were serious concerns.”

She said she, her brother Adrian Cole, and her mother had all visited him in prison in Morocco.

“My dad has been really really strong and I can’t believe he’s getting through this as well as he is,” she said.

Adrian Cole told the BBC: “He’s surprisingly strong. The first time we saw him over there he was taking a very level-headed approach to what was going on.

“They have brief access to telephones. He does seem to be holding up.”

‘Incredibly worried’

Mr Cole said his father had been in Morocco on a five-week holiday and had been posting comments and photos online.

“One day he just vanished off Facebook,” he said.

“I don’t understand how a private photograph locked in a phone [could] become something that is offending people in public?”

It is madness, utter and complete madness for British LGB people to visit Islamic countries. Even Britain’s very pro-Arab Foreign and Commonwealth Office warns travellers who may be LGB that same-sex relationships and heterosexual relationships between those who are not married are often illegal in these shariah shitholes. LGB people should listen to this advice and not travel to these countries because they are unsafe. If Mr Cole senior really wanted to experience what it is like to live as a gay man in a shariah zone and spend his days looking over his shoulder then he could have done it much more cheaply by visiting the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Sorry, but I have remarkably little sympathy here; the bloke knew being a homo was a huge issue before he went there, then made sure to get noticed. I don’t like any trace of sharia here, but in a muslim country, full of muslims? It’s a bit hypocritical of us to say how we don’t want to change to suit them, but could they kindly change to suit us!

Up to a point I agree with you. If Bearded Savage countries want to be oppressive towards LGB people then there is not much that we can do about it. I think the best thing is for LGB people not to visit Muslim countries. If one of my gay friends said ‘I’m thinking of going to Egypt or Morocco or Algeria etc’ I’d say why not go somewhere a bit more gay friendly? It really is not a good idea for gay people to go to Muslim countries. People forget that the police in these places are entitled to rummage around in your luggage, your phone, you diary etc for what ever reason the local plod chooses.

Slightly off topic but there is a huge underground gay scene in many Arab countries including Saudi. One fo the great political and social ironies about the Middle East is the safest place for an Arab LGB person is Israel.

  2. “One fo the great political and social ironies about the Middle East is the safest place for an Arab LGB person is Israel” – Its not an Irony. Israel is not ISLAMIC! Israel also had the first and maybe only lesbo couple on Dancing with the stars.

Agreed it is because Israel is not an Islamic craphole that LGB people can live their lives without the sort of fear experienced by LGB people in the rest of the region.

  3. Turns out the guy’s been released, although not his 20 year old “friend”. “I’m not a sex tourist” said Mr Cole.

Morocco has always been a favourite destination for gays, a relatively liberal country with the Islamic ambiguity towards homosexuality and age of consent. However Salafism is taking root there and the authorities are cracking down. Ditto on the hash front.

Morocco may have once been a safe-ish destination for gay men but with the Salafists gaining ground maybe the more gay friendly Greek island of Mykonos may be a safer bet. Although it is good that a British citizen has been released, I hate to think what will happen to the local man who was also arrested at the hands of the Salafist leaning authorities.
