PEGIDA protest in Dresden, Germany

Germany and German politics is at a crossroads where it needs to make a choice and a historic choice. Do they carry on as before and back the now obviously failing policies of multiculturalism and continue to spout empty slogans like ‘diversity is good’, ‘strength through diversity’, ‘Islam is a religion of peace’, or do they do the correct and democratic thing, and listen to what the Germans are, in increasing numbers saying?

There is a growing movement in Germany that is rejecting not just the ideology of Islam, but the apparent state sponsorship of it by generations of German politicians. This movement is not racist, it is not calling for Muslims to be killed purely because they are Muslim, but it is questioning what values, if any, Islam brings to non-Muslim countries. Those tens of thousands of ordinary Germans who are marching against Islamisation and the political culture of pandering to Islam are not jackbooted neo-Nazis but ordinary Germans worried about the damage Islam is doing to German society.

Here’s the UK Leftist newspaper, The Independent on the growing confidence of the PEGIDA movement:

More than 17,000 people have marched on the German city of Dresden protesting the “Islamification of Europe” as a wave of xenophobia sweeps the country.

Supports of Pegida – a growing group calling itself the “Patriotic Europeans against the Islamification of the West” – filled the city’s historic square singing Christmas carols and waving German flags on Monday.

Its leaders have been dismissed as “Nazis in pinstripes” and the group’s rise has coincided with arson attacks on refugee hostels and the daubing of swastikas on city walls, but the controversy has not dissuaded supporters.

We are the people,” a post on the group’s Facebook page proclaimed after Monday’s protest, claiming a record attendance of more than 20,000 people.”

It is standard operating procedure for Leftists to denounce anybody who criticises or is opposed to the ideology of Islam to shout ‘neo-Nazi’ or ‘racist’ or some other debate stopping ‘snarl’ word.

The Independent noted that the PEGIDA movement is non racist but tried to smear PEGIDA by saying that they have had social media support from what they call the ‘far right’. The article continued:

What has startled politicians, though, is that many Pegida supporters are not extremists or neo-Nazis but middle-class office workers, parents and pensioners.

The movement’s apparent appeal – going from marches numbering the hundreds in October to tens of thousands today – has forced Germany’s leading politicians to respond.

It’s plain to see even from this article that was clearly written from a Leftist point of view that the majority of those marching for PEGIDA are not boot boys or football hooligans or dole bludgers etc, but those who make up the backbone of a society, the middle classes, those with families and those with a cultural, historic and financial stake in society. It is not the outsiders in German society who are taking part in these marches but those who are very much insiders or ‘the normal people’ if you want to put it like that.

It is obvious that this movement and these series of marches will discombobulate many German politicians. PEGIDA doesn’t fit in the convenient ‘neo-Nazi’ or ‘nationalist extremist’ box. In a sign of how difficult it is going to be for German citizens to shift the multiculturalist and Islam appeasing mindset of their political masters we see that the Establishment politicians are already issuing vague threats to those who attend PEGIDA events.

The Independent added:

Chancellor Angela Merkel warned about misinformation spread by Pegida and other groups to further their stance on immigration.

There’s freedom of assembly in Germany, but there’s no place for incitement and lies about people who come to us from other countries,” she said.

“Everyone [at Pegida marches] needs to be careful that they are not taken advantage of by the people who organise such events.”

I wonder if Chancellor Mrs Merkel realises the irony of her statement on misinformation? For decades people all over the free world, not just in Germany, have been fed disinformation about Islam, namely that it is a religion of peace. That is the real act of dishonesty, not the criticisms of Islamisation made by the supporters of PEGIDA.

As a Briton and being aware of 20th Century history, I should, along with many other Europeans, feel at bit queasy at the sight of patriotic Germans doing a lot of marching around, but I don’t. This is because PEGIDA worries me a whole lot less than the Islamists they are marching against, and the Quislings in our governments who support and pander to Islam.

Far from being worried or concerned about PEGIDA, at least in its current form, I think it is a shame that there could not be a PEGIDA for the UK. We in the UK should be telling our political overlords, in peaceful but no uncertain terms, that ‘We are the People’ and we deserve to be listened to for a change.

The Independent hinzugefügt:

If THAT is an example of its translation abilitys, give up.

    • Yes, machine translation is notoriously fickle. Get it done by a human being. If you’re desperate to find a real translator, try the Chartered Institute of Linguists.

BTW, very good article. The demos in Dresden are a deliberate echo of those held twenty five years ago against the East German state and are as such quintessentially German.

  2. The EDL had the chance to become a genuinely grassroots/working class movement, but our Lords and Masters made it perfectly clear what happens to anyone who puts their head above the parapet.

  3. Funny how things change, our Government are now the ones telling us what to think, spying on us on a massive scale and punishing the weak and disabled in many cases to death.
