East London Mosque and Jihad promotion. No surprises there to see those two things linked?

Lancaster over mosque

Reading the news that a teenage ‘Jihadi-bride’, Sharmeena Begum was radicalised at a women’s group at the extremist linked East London Mosque will be of no surprise to those who know this organisation. It has constantly put on extremist preachers including some who call for the deaths of gays and Jews and its presence has had a baleful effect on the Tower Hamlets area. The East London Mosque cynically exploits its connections to the multifaith TELCO (The East London Communities Organisation) group and with the Left wing ‘social action’ group Citizens UK. Over the years the East London Mosque has sometimes used these entities, especially Citizens UK, to run political cover for the mosque, when the mosque has been caught out doing something dodgy, like put on or approving of hate preachers. The East London Mosque is a very troublesome organisation, connected to the umbrella organisation Islamic Forum Europe, and if there was ever to be a state organised clear-out and shutdown of dodgy mosques, then it’s the East London mosque that should be at the head of the list for closure.

The Islamic Forum Europe, which is closely connected to the East London Mosque via key power players in the local Muslim community is an arm of the South Asian theocratic fascist organisation, Jamaat e Islaami. Such an organisation should never have been allowed influence in any way in the UK. Allowing IFE anywhere near any source of power whether temporal or spiritual is akin to putting a fox in charge of a henhouse. Special criticisim must be aimed at those such as Neil Jameson of London Citizens who has been wheeled out on several occasions to praise the ELM and say, when negative media attention is focussed on the ELM, that the ELM are not at all extremist, honestly guv’nor.

Here’s what the Daily Mail has to say about this latest bit of ‘no shit Sherlock’ news.

A teenage jihadi bride who groomed three of her school friends to join her in Syria to fight for Islamic State was radicalised at a women’s charity based at one of Britain’s biggest mosques, it has been claimed.

Sharmeena Begum became one of the youngest British teenagers to join the murderous IS terror group when she fled from her home in East London and travelled to Syria last December aged 15.

Three months later, three of her closest school friends – Amira Abase, 16, Kadiza Sultana, 16, and Shamima Begum, 15 – also fled to Syria, triggering an international search to rescue them.

Islamic leaders and some of their family members blamed the internet for grooming the four schoolgirls, who were all pupils at Bethnal Green Academy in Tower Hamlets, East London.

But now it is claimed that Sharmeena was first radicalised inside the East London Mosque, Whitechapel, allegedly by women from a group called Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE). She then allegedly groomed three friends to join her at the meetings.

The IFE previously attracted controversy because one of its founders is a suspected Muslim extremist accused of 18 murders and war crimes in his native Bangladesh.

Family members and relatives of the teenager broke their silence and told The Mail on Sunday that they suspect rogue individuals within the IFE’s women’s wing, known as the Sisters Forum or Muslimaat, advised her to travel to Syria in the wake of her mother’s death. The IFE has denied the claims.

Assuming the family can be believed, difficult I know when dealing with Muslims who so often lie, this is a very serious allegation against the ELM. In the past they’ve been able to talk their way out of trouble or get Neil Jameson or some naïve Vicar or Rabbi from the various ‘interfaith’ groups to talk them out of trouble. I feel that this time, some of the brown stuff will stick to the previously seemingly Teflon-coated East London Mosque. Of course the ELM and IFE will deny there is a problem, it’s what they always do, it’s part of the script. However this time things are different. The ELM have in the past been able to blame ‘external organisations’ or ‘oversights that will not happen again’ when they’ve been caught hosting or promoting or approving of hate preachers. This time they can’t do this, this time the IFE, who are closely associated with the mosque, have been caught using ELM property for the purposes of recruiting for Jihad. This is much much more serious than some of the things they’ve been caught doing and proved to have done in the past. This is terror promotion and it needs to be dealt with as harshly as possible by the powers that be.

This is alleged to have happened inside the mosque, not at the associated London Muslim Centre or any of the other Tower Hamlet’s venues that have a history of putting on dodgy Islamist and Jihadist speakers or preachers. I’m not sure that the ELM will be able to wriggle completely off the hook for this one.

The family of Sharmeena Begum are adamant that it was not them who radicalised their daughter and that it was the doing of the East London Mosque although questions need to be asked of the family about why they didn’t become more suspicious earlier about her behaviour. Attending a mosque known to have connections with South Asian theocratic fascists would for me be one of the trigger points that suggested extremist arse-wittery was going on. Many people have to cope with the death of a loved one as Sharmeena Begum had to, but they don’t normally cope with the death by supporting violent Islamic extremism or by flying off to Syria to kill non-Muslims. Although the East London Mosque looks as if it should shoulder a lot of the blame here for this particular radicalisation, the family of the girl herself should not be considered to have completely clean hands.

I’m personally very glad to see the guns of the media being turned onto the East London Mosque, I’ve argued for a few years now that there is nothing to be gained by bringing them into the political and community tent and have criticised those Christian, Jewish and other organisations who associate with the East London Mosque. The ELM is an un-reformable carbuncle on the face of Whitechapel and it is high time that this festering boil was lanced for good.

  1. I find it utterly astonishing that the Tunisian government could close down 80 mosques within a week of the atrocity carried out by another scumbag from the “ROP” yet our government seems to be completely powerless to do anything at all about the lunatic situation we have in this country!
When are we going to actually get a proper Prime Minister, rather than this “surgeon’s dream” * we have now?

*”surgeon’s dream” because he’s easy to operate on. Well, he has no spine, no brain, no balls and no guts!

I agree, if the government of Tunisia, a Muslim country, can act quickly against troublesome mosques that promote Jihad, then why can’t the British government do the same? The East London Mosque has been an irritant for decades and has beena major factor in the rise of extremist Islam in the area of Tower Hamlets. It should have been shut down years ago.

Interesting side issue here. This is a link to a site by someone who appears to be an apologist for the East London Mosque http://www.theology-centre.org.uk/dispatches-documentary-on-east-london-mosque/ They state, in between slagging off journalists who criticise the ELM, that London Citizens the Lefty ‘community group’ had some major help from the ELM when LC was starting up. It’s quite obvious that LC is paying back the debt for early help from the ELM by continually saying ‘move along now nothing to see here’ when the ELM gets caught out. When people ask me whether or not I want to get involved in any social action campaigns over things like ‘poverty’ I always ask ‘are Citizens UK involved?’, if they are then I politely tell those asking to fuck right off. I want nothign to do with those who turn a blind eye to the goings on at the ELM or who refer to them as a valuable community organisation.
