What do you call a religion that murders its own peacemakers?

Asad Shah, murdered by a fellow Muslim

Why Islam of course.

From Glasgow came the shocking news that a Muslim peacemaker from the minority Ahmadiyya sect has been murdered by other Muslims because he wished British Christians a happy Easter.

If there is anything that sums up the true nature of Islam and why it is not welcome in Britain then surely this must be it? Although there are genuine reasons to criticise Ahmadhi Islam, such as their peacefulness gives a false impression to non-Muslims of what Islam is all about, this peaceful man did not deserve to be murdered.

Here’s the Daily Mail’s coverage of this story. It should be noted that the Mail’s coverage was far more accurate than that of the BBC and the Guardian who initially played down the fact that this was a Muslim on Muslim attack.

The Daily Mail said:

A newsagent was murdered by a fellow Muslim after he wished his Christian friends a peaceful Easter.

Asad Shah, who was stabbed up to 30 times at his shop, had praised both the life of Jesus and ‘his beloved Christian nation’. Left lying in a pool of blood, the 40-year-old died in hospital.

Police, who were questioning a 32-year-old suspect last night, said the killing was religiously motivated.

Mohammad Faisal, a family friend, said a bearded Muslim wearing a long religious robe entered Mr Shah’s shop and spoke to him in his native language before stabbing him in the head with a kitchen knife.

Mr Shah’s brother, who was working next door, rushed out to find the killer laughing while sitting on the Glasgow newsagent’s bleeding chest.

The brother dragged Mr Shah away but the guy continued attacking with the blade,’ said Mr Faisal. ‘They struggled up to the bus stop where Asad collapsed.

It was just a clear-cut revenge attack. For posting messages about peace, messages about greeting fellow Christians and Jews.

That man must not have been too happy about what he was doing, what he was preaching. It was a well-planned attack. He must have been an extremist.

He went straight for the head. He got stomped on the head as well. His brother suffered a slash down his shoulder area because he attacked him with a knife as well.’

Before his death, Mr Shah had wished his friends a ‘Good Friday and a very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation’.

In his final post, he wrote: ‘Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ and get the real success in both worlds.’

Mr Shah also appeared to use his Facebook page to speak out over the attacks in Brussels.

I’m not a Christian but it is unlikely that anybody from my faith, Judaism, would be coming round to my house intent on murdering me just because I wished my Christian readers a Happy Easter. I wished my Christian readers a Happy Easter yesterday and so far I’ve not had anybody with a beard, tzitzit and peyos banging on my door wanting to kill me. In fact it’s unlikely to ever happen.

This murderous difference between Islam and other faiths shows just why mainstream Islam is incompatible with the sort of societies that have a policy of freedom of religion. If you want to know why you should be opposed to Islam then think of the fate of Islamic peacemakers like Mr Shah and then you will understand why mainstream Orthodox Islam needs to be opposed.

Islam is different and this case shows that fact in stark and tragic detail. It shows Islam’s intolerance, violence, supremacism and aggression and if Mr Shah’s death is to have any meaning then it should be to wake up all non-Muslims to the danger posed by Islam. The right to freedom of belief was bought at great price and took a long period of time to create in the UK, yet the injection of Islam is endangering that right.

If we want to protect freedom of belief then we need to put Islam and Muslims under much more pressure than they are at present. We’ve tolerated their intolerance for far too long and it’s time it stopped.

May Mr Shah’s memory be for a blessing and may his death wake people up to the danger that we have allowed to grow in our midst.
