Scofflaw definition

The online word finder dictionary.com defines the word ‘scofflaw’ thus:

noun

1.

a person who flouts the law, especially one who fails to pay fines owed.

2.

a person who flouts rules, conventions, or accepted practices.

It was a word coined during the years of Prohibition in the United States to describe someone who drank despite it being forbidden by law. It can also be taken to mean someone who ignores or takes the piss out of a blatantly unfair or unjust law such as Prohibition that punished the social drinker and the hardened drunk alike.

I’ve been drawn to the word ‘Scofflaw’ following the announcement that the Metropolitan Police, at the instigation of the Muslim Mayor of London Sadiq ‘Saracen’ Khan are going to spend a large amount of public money monitoring social media for what the police are referring to as ‘hate speech’, but which is often stuff that the majority of us would describe merely as a different opinion.

The Metropolitan Police are going to be diverting resources that should really be used for front line essential policing into overseeing what people say about various matters, especially about Islam in the online environment. This is not only a waste of public money but is also a major assault on the principles of freedom of speech. The Met will monitor the internet for ‘offending’ speech and alert other forces to the existence of it in order that the could arrest the perpetrators. It’s a monstrous piece of overreach by the police and the government and will be seen by some as giving the ideology of Islam and its followers protection over and above that which should be expected by anybody else.

Without a doubt this new squad will arrest and charge some people for comments about Islam that some Muslims may not like. They will do this not only to punish the alleged ‘offender’ but also to frighten others into shutting up about Islam. However, they can’t arrest or charge or imprison everyone who criticises Islam or calls out the Islamic ‘prophet’ Mohammed for what he really was, which was a war-lording paedophile bastard of the worst sort. This new Met squad is an unjust manifestation of the ideology of political correctness and the freedom stifling phenomenon of ‘hate speech’ therefore it deserves to have the piss mercilessly ripped out of it. My own view of this matter is it’s unworthy of British police officers to become mere ‘blockwarts‘ or sneaks for the very Muslims who are in a multitude of places in Britain, making ordinary people’s lives a misery. This squad is a shameful blot on the history and reputation of not only the Met but of every other police force in the UK.

I would counsel not only to take the piss out of the Met’s new toy, but to increase the volume, intensity and accuracy of criticism of Islam and its often criminally minded and antisocial followers. Just as with the failed policy of the Prohibition of alcohol we have, in the phenomenon of ‘hate speech’, an unjust and intrusive law that deserves to be treated with derision. We should express that derision most effectively by continuing to criticise Islam and also by doing our very best to support those who fall foul of this new Met Police squad.

For me, this new Met Police squad is crossing a line that should not be crossed from being a police force who should be helping to sort out problems, to being part of the problem. It should be every person’s right to speak ill of ideologies such as Islam that really are ill and it should not be the job of the police to stop people exercising that right.

I’ll start the ball rolling with the criticism of Islam shall I? How about: Mohammed the Islamic ‘prophet’ was a child abusing, slave keeping, thieving violent scumbag of the worst sort. Those who follow this man and who believe that he should be emulated will end up as being just as much scum as Mohammed himself was. Mohammed is a bad example for anyone to follow and I claim the moral right to state that opinion.

  1. Honestly, I hate twitter and facebook, but I think I will join just to post insults about Islam to take up police resources. I live outside the UK, so fuck ’em… Fucking politically correct cops – we need a few more Gene Hunts….
