There’s been another horrific and possibly Islam related attack on innocent people this time students at Ohio State University in the United States. 11 people were injured when Somali Muslim ‘refugee’ Abdul Razak Ali Artan rammed his car into a group of people and then went on a stabbing rampage. There are ominous echoes in this case of the many stabbing jihad attacks that have afflicted Israel and elsewhere.
Thankfully although there have been 11 people injured, the only death that has occurred because of this attack was that of the knife-wielding savage himself. Artan refused to put down the knife when confronted by a campus police officer so the officer shot the savage dead. This heroic police officer with a firearm has possibly saved the lives of many innocent people who could have become victims of Artan’s stabbing rampage.
There is some suggestions in press reports that Artan was full of Islamic grievance (what a surprise or maybe not) and had previously whined to anybody who would listen about a lack of Islamic prayer facilities at the University. However, civilised people settle differences and air grievances by speaking calmly to others, using the political or administrative processes or having peaceful demonstrations and not going on stabbing sprees. Unfortunately Islamic hell-holes like Somalia seem to have a have a habit of producing people who don’t take these peaceful routes but reach for the tool of violence not as a last resort, but in the very first instance.
Here’s the UK Daily Express report on this horrifying attack. As is usual policy for this blog the original quoted text is in italics whereas this blogger’s comments are in plain text.
The Daily Express said:
The crazed 18-year-old rammed his car into a group of innocent bystanders on campus before getting out and stabbing people with a butcher’s knife before police shot him dead.
Artan had left Somalia with his family in 2007 and lived in Pakistan before resettling in the US two years ago.
The FBI has refused to rule out terror as the motive behind the vicious attack in Columbus, which has one of the largest contingents of Somali migrants in the United States.
Artan was interviewed by the student newspaper The Lantern back in August, where he spoke about how he struggled to find a private place to pray on campus.
He transferred to the Columbus State at the beginning of the school year.
Artan told them: “This place is huge, and I don’t even know where to pray. I wanted to pray in the open, but I was kind of scared with everything going on in the media.
“I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen.
“But, I don’t blame them.
“It’s the media that puts that picture in their heads so they’re going to have it and it, it’s going to make them feel uncomfortable.
Maybe Artan should have used what little brainpower he was blessed with to consider why people are nervous around expressions of Islamic religiosity? Artan blamed ‘the media’ for giving people stories about Islam that made them ‘nervous’. On the other hand maybe if Muslims or those acting in the name of Islam had not indulged in so much violence, rape and disturbance in our civilised nations in recent years, then it’s possible that the press would not have so many negative stories about Islam to write in the first place?
This attack, for which a terrorist motive is not being ruled out by the FBI, is yet another example of a Muslim going ‘full Islam’ and attacking and sometimes murdering innocent people. Apart from the aforementioned wave of stabbing jihad attacks on Israel there have been a number of attacks across the world going back quite a few years now where ostensibly peaceful individual Muslims have been shown to be suffering from ‘sudden jihad syndrome’. It’s this sudden and unpredictable nature of attacks like the one in Ohio that make normal people much more nervous of Muslims not the sort of press reports that the likes of Artan complain about. I can’t blame people for being more nervous about the ideology of Islam than they would normally be when so many things like this happen. Every time there is an outbreak of ‘sudden jihad syndrome’ like this people become more and more wary of Islam and Muslims and that these sort of attacks bring a potential ‘clash of civilisations’ much closer. I must say that for an ideology that we are constantly told is a ‘religion of peace’ it’s followers have a strange way of showing how peaceful they are.
It’s another day and yet another Muslim stabber. This sort of thing needs to be stopped and stopped soon and if the Muslim minorities in our countries don’t do effective and positive things to halt these attacks, and do these quickly. If there isn’t drastic action on the part of both Muslim minorities and the Authorities to deal with both dangerous individuals and the dangerous bits of Islamic theology, then things will get much worse. Many non Muslims will start to see these Islamic communities as at best faithless to the idea of living in harmony with others or at worst as approving of such acts of violence. Either way these acts of unnecessary and unwarranted violence are going to help to create a situation that is really not going to end well at all.
