Why should ANY history be off limits. I agree with Mr Murray that more should have been made of the ban on non Muslims entering the City of Mecca to film. Funny how other religions holy cities don’t seem to have this ban. You can visit the Vatican as a non Catholic, you can visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem if you are not a Jew but you can’t visit Mecca if you are a non Muslim.
Nor can you enter a mosque, apparently.
You can’t even go to mecca if you are merely a convert to islame. Can’t really say I blame them there, I mean, would you willingly associate with someone that thick?
Hi Robert the biker, good to have you here. I think that you can visit Mecca if you are convert provided that the convert has the appropriate documentation from an imam.
However, to convert to Islam would in my book make me think that there was something either damaged or lacking in the person concerned (especially when women do it, it’s letting down the sisterhood). If you want a religion that tries to love everyone then try Christianity, you want loads of odd food and strange rules , try Judaism, want some proper physical images of gods then try Hinduism. But Islam? I wonder at the mentality of people who choose to follow Mohammed who to be frank was a bit of an arse. .
If I was the Security Services I’d be keeping an eye on converts to Islam, as you may have damaged people with imparired judgement coming under the influence of some right nasties.
OK the Sufi’s have taken the islam thing and made it so much more than it is and for that I have no problem with Sufi’s. Sadly the same cannot be said for the rest of the Ummah.
