For the history buffs out there. List of aggressive Islamic attacks/conquests/raids from 632CE to 2010CE

When apologists for Islam say that Islam is a religion of peace, then they are either lying, stupid or are ignorant of Islamic history.  The conflict between the Judaeo-Christian world isn’t a recent thing and neither does the root cause of this conflict reside in the actions of Western nations.  The cause of the conflict lies with Islam and some proof of this is this list of Islamic aggressive activity since the times of Mohammed.

I found this list on Winds of Jihad, an anti jihadist blog and it makes interesting reading. There doesn’t appear to be any time in history where Islamic nations haven’t tried to attack non-Muslim nations, often subjecting the original inhabitants of the non Muslim nations to genocide.

This list, compiled by German speaking commentor on a thread entitled The Bible and the Qu’ran, Equally Violent’, covers the years 632CE through to 2010CE, covers Islamic wars of conquest in Europe, Africa and Asia along with the problems of Islamic piracy and slave raids and trading.  This list I believe doesn’t include all those multitude of occasions where Muslim killed Muslim.  The exclusion of the intra Muslim killings puts into sharp relief the antagonism that much of the Islamic world has felt for the non Islamic world.

Please excuse machine translation from German to English.  The original German language version is below the English one.

4 Comments on "For the history buffs out there. List of aggressive Islamic attacks/conquests/raids from 632CE to 2010CE"

  1. Are you saying that from 632ce till 2010ce no judeo-christian group or armed force has been an aggressor in war, a slave trader, oppressor, a pirate, or commited acts of genocide anywhere on the globe? The title of your own sources’ thread that you got the list from is “The Bible and Qur,an, Equally Violent”. Your source said “EQUALLY”. Why are’nt you being equal?

    • Firstly, the violence in the Bible related to specific historical events and actions. It is not and was not a call for permanent violence against other groups.

Of course Judaeo-Christian nations have been aggressors but not in the single-minded way that Islam has behaved.

Remember the UK banned the slave trade centuries ago, where as slavery in Islamic lands is still going on.

There is a difference between the violence in the bible and the violence in the Koran, biblical violence is just that, back in biblical times, not now, whereas Islam exhorts its followers even today to commit violence upon others.

You don’t often find many Christians or Jews calling for the deaths of members of other groups, that phenomenon is sadly mostly an Islamic one.

  2. (I’m still new to this; i didnt know you made a reply, excuse my late reply). The violence in the Qur’an is related to specific historical events also, namely when those first Muslim communities were persecuted by other groups. Oh, but the Judaeo-Christian has made calls to permanent violence; the proof is in the wars fought in the past where [they] were aggressors and today where the same have been the aggressor.

I dont understand when you say Islam has been single-minded aggressors and Judaeo-Christian nations have’nt. Did you say that because Judaeo-Christian nations have more than one reason to fight?

The UK and the US are big on the sex-slave trade. Today.

There is absolutely no difference between violence in the Bible and Qur’an. Just ask the by-standers who dont believe in either religion but are watching the two sides go back and forth. The Judaeo-Christian today teaches “just war”. If the war is felt to be just, that is enough to fight. But I say that is still dangerous.

Oh, but there are Christians and Jews calling for the deaths of others. I read the news. I know here in the US and the UK Muslims are targeted and murdered, and its never the terrorist (you cant be a terrorist and call yourself a Muslim) that’s murdered; it’s the young woman or loving dad. I think that is sad.

    • I’m not saying that only Islam has been involved in historical violence, nor that Christians have not been involved in violence. We are all too human.

However, it cannot be denied that Islam has behaved in an aggressive way and that the violence is not just a historical Koranic relic as with say the violence in the Old Testament book of Joshua.

There is still a modern day exhortation to violence in the Koran and this is why religious minorities are so often targetted in Islamic lands.

There are certainly real differences between how violence is portrayed in the Old Testament and there is no exhortation to violence in the New Testament.

Also Muslims are told to emulate the prophet Mohammed, but the example of Mohammed is not one that is needed in the modern world. The world does not need to use the ideal 7th century man as an example for the 21st.
