Crypto Competition results

A WWII Enigma encryption machine in use.

Sadly there were no entries for the crypto competition. I may have made the puzzle a bit too difficult. Next time something much, much easier, a Ceasar Shift Cypher.

Anyway, below is the plain text from the original challenge. There are a couple of transcription spelling mistakes that crept in whilst compiling the code, but otherwise the code works.

For those who are interested the code is a book code with two books being used as crypto keys. They are ‘The Suicide Factory’ by Sean O’Neill and Daniel McGrory, and The New American Revolution’ by Tammy Bruce.

The code is made up as follows

1 (source book 1 for Suicide Factory and 2 for New American Revolution)

2 (page of source book)

3 (line on page)

4 (word on line)

Words that were not available in the source books were created by coding in the following format: 1234.1

1 (source book 1 for Suicide Factory and 2 for New American Revolution)

2 (page of source book)

3 (line on page)

4 (word on line)

5 (letter of word – this figure placed after the decimal point)

Here’s the plain text that was encoded for the competition

“We in Britain have an enemy, it is not an ememy that is threatening us from overseas, but one that has been imported by those who had forgotton just how bestial this enemy could be. Worse, this enemy has been over indulged by politicians who should know better. This enemy is Islam. Fight back. No fucking surrender.”
