From Elsewhere: At last an MP speaks up about the BBC’s Leftist bias

I’ve almost completely given up on the BBC. I will not watch its dishonest news output where certain stories are noteworthy because of what the BBC leaves out of the pieces, rather than by what it includes. BBC News stories are consistently spun to the Left and twisted to fit in with the BBC world-view. It’s drama and comedy is a constant diet of leftist propaganda with nearly all of its comedians being sneering leftists and popular drama like Eastenders jumping on whatever liberal left bandwagon is in vogue this month. It’s got to the stage where the only BBC programmes I watch are University Challenge, Only Connect and Mastermind, nothing else the BBC put out can I watch without having to furrow my brow at some leftist idiocy or crass attempt to twist facts to fit the BBC group think.

However there has at last been some challenge to the BBC, the bubble of liberal leftism that it exists in and the sneering attitude it has to those who pay for it which is us the ordinary British citizen who is forced to purchase a Television Licence which then funds the BBC. The MP David Davis has spoken out about BBC bias and criticised the way that the BBC covered the EU referendum.

Brietbart said:

A Conservative Member of Parliament has slammed the BBC, claiming employees who talk negatively about immigration, the EU or doubt climate change are discriminated against.

Anyone trying it in a BBC studios would probably find that their promotional ceiling was hit fairly quickly”, David Davies told MPs during a Westminster Hall debate, the Scotsman reports.

He said the BBC’s reporting of the Brexit vote had been “an absolute disgrace” and argued that unless the national broadcaster addressed its left-wing bias it would struggle to justify using taxpayer’s money.

Mr. Davies described the BBC as “somewhat to the left of centre”, explaining:

I’ve been in many BBC studios and canteens and I’ve yet to see anyone sitting there reading a copy of the Daily Express or the Daily Mail, loudly complaining about immigration, Brussels or suggesting that claims about climate change are somewhat over-egged.

And yet this is a perfectly normal situation in many other workplaces”, he added.

On climate change, Mr. Davies said: “I think it’s regrettable that the BBC has accepted hook, line and sinker the so-called scientific consensus around climate change and not allowed onto the airwaves anyone who wants to question it.”

Mr Davies was joined by Philip Hollobone MP, who insisted Radio 4’s early morning Today programme had been “trying to talk this country into recession”.

He said: “Each morning on the business section of the Today programme we still get an unrelenting diet of doom and gloom about Britain’s economic prospects after the Brexit vote.

And if anybody is trying to talk this country into recession, it’s the business section of the Today programme.

The BBC could be far more representative of public opinion than it is. It seems to be the voice of the Metro-Left rather than being the voice of, or responsive to, what the proverbial man on the Clapham Omnibus is thinking, saying and is concerned about.

I believe that in Britain there is a need for a public service broadcaster to do that stuff that would not be commercial. It’s right in my view that there should be an outlet for classic drama, literature, music and history that other broadcasters may not feel they can make a profit on. I’d like to see a broadcaster that cherished and promulgated the canons of Western thought and opened people’s minds to the great heritage of knowledge and culture that Britain has played a part in creating. Unfortunately, the BBC as it is currently run and constituted is not that organisation, far from it. The BBC has become ‘The Guardian newspaper of the Air’ and like that gradually failing organ is promoting causes, such as mass immigration, diversity and the EU, that many in the United Kingdom have a dislike or even an antipathy for.

The BBC should not survive merely as a playground for the middle class Left, it needs to be more than that, much more, if it is going to regain the trust and respect of the British people.
