Mendacious Islamic grievance-mongers Tell Mama demands internet ‘blasphemy law’ and gets criticism from Breitbart in return.

As a long time observer and critic of the mendacious grievance mongering taqiyya artists of Tell Mama and their founder Fiyaz Mughal, I was absolutely delighted to see an article by Virginia Hale on Breitbart seriously laying into the Tell Mama group. The article, part of which is copied and commented on by me below, rips into some of Tell Mama’s claims made in their latest annual report. Tell Mama are alleging that ‘far right’ (which is Tell Mama’s smear of the day for anyone opposed to Islam) groups are manipulating Google into presenting anti-Islam content by ‘search engine optimisation’. Shockingly, Tell Mama are also denying the existence of those types of sex crime that have a particular Islamic flavour, which are becoming endemic in some of Britain’s towns and cities. They are saying this despite sound evidence from court records that certain types of gang style sexual attacks do have a marked preponderance of Muslim males involved in them. To deny that Britain has an Islamic sex crime problem is to tell yet another of the monstrous lies that Tell Mama have made themselves infamous for telling.

It is very good to see a writer of the calibre of Ms Hale taking on the Tell Mama group and getting the backing of Breitbart in order to do that. Over the last few years I have personally encountered a growing number of individuals who are voicing concerns, whether publicly or privately, about the activities of the Tell Mama group. These concerns have ranged from Tell Mama’s record of dishonesty and spin, their infiltration and influence over Britain’s police forces and Crown prosecutors, the sources and probity of their data and their exploitation of other more credible community groups, in order to build Tell Mama’s own credibility. Tell Mama staff have also not been above exploiting the vulnerable mentally ill in order to push their narrative about ‘hate crimes’ in the faces of government agencies. Neither have some of those associated with Tell Mama shied away from lawfare, with critics allegedly threatened with libel suits and other forms of legal action designed to intimidate individuals into silence about their concerns about Tell Mama and those associated with it. It is to be hoped that the sort of negative attention that Tell Mama are getting from Brietbart will encourage others to ask awkward questions about what this group is doing and start pressuring our politicians to stop funding them or giving them access to the adminisphere to a degree that we mere mortals do not have. It is a sign of how bent our politics, public services and administration have become, that a bunch of agenda driven charlatans like Tell Mama are allowed so much access to entities such as the police, local government and the various quangos.

Tell Mama is not only a very ‘bad egg’ of an organisation, which is a damn good reason in itself to remove their influence over our governance, but they are also expensive. This blog previously published an article based on Freedom of Information Act data that showed that Tell Mama and indeed other projects set up by Tell Mama’s founder Fiyaz Mughal, have been and in some cases still are, in receipt of very large amounts of public money. In 2016, Tell Mama itself was getting £181k per year from the British taxpayer and the total amount of money spent up until 2016 on various wasteful, useless, counterproductive Fiyaz Mughal founded projects such as ‘caring for Islamic converts’ and the ‘women’s mosque directory’, has totalled approximately a million pounds. This money could have been far better spent elsewhere, maybe on some police officers to protect our kids from Islamic nonces perhaps? Even flushed down the toilet the vast amount of money spunked on Tell Mama and other Fiyaz Mughal related projects would have represented better value for money than we taxpayers have got from Tell Mama and their funders at the Department of Communities and Local Government.

Let us now move onto the excellent article on the disgraced but still worryingly influential Tell Mama group by Virginia Hale over at Breitbart. As is usual policy for this blog, Ms Hale’s words will be in italics whereas my comments will be in plain text.

Virginia Hale at Breitbart said:

Self-proclaimed hate crime recording group Tell MAMA has demanded that Google review its algorithms to ensure that searches on topics such as grooming gangs and terrorism do not yield “anti-Muslim” results.

I’m afraid this is typical of Tell Mama’s arrogance and also their marked favouring of censorship policies. Tell Mama have been linked to both the left wing censors of the ‘Hacked Off’ group and other leftist groups such as Stop Funding Hate, which is pressuring companies not to advertise in places like the Daily Mail. Their demand for censorship shows that the Tell Mama group has no desire for honest or open debate on the issue of Islam, if they did then they would welcome, or at the very least grudgingly accept, that there are other points of view out there, including ones that some may find distasteful. Tell Mama’s aim seems to be to censor any information about Islam or any opinion about Islam that they don’t approve of, or which some would consider ‘offensive’.

Tell MAMA alleged that “far right” groups have manipulated the search giant’s results to stoke tensions against Muslim communities living in Britain, in the “anti-Islamophobia” organisation’s annual report.

I fail to see how this could be effectively achieved. I know that high spending advertisers can play the SEO game quite effectively but I find it difficult to believe that this is what is being done by counter jihad activists. I believe that any increase in the number of readers and searchers of and for counter-Islam sites and social media accounts, is down to there being an increased interest in this issue on the part of the public. As for ‘stoking tensions’ then I’m afraid that ball is firmly in the court of Britain’s Muslims. This is because things like murdering teenagers at a pop concert, running down drinkers, tourists and Londoners on that city’s bridges along with engaging in significant levels of sex offending, do tend to make people dislike the culture from whence such savagery and crime comes. It’s not rocket science, if a community, especially a minority community, causes so much trouble for both the majority and other minorities, then it is highly likely people will think badly of that offending community. People are angry at Islam and I’m afraid that no amount of bullshit from the likes of Tell Mama will change the fact that at least some of this anger is justified. It’s worth reading Tell Mama’s annual report, it’s a masterpiece of bullshit, questionable and in some cases heavily biased references and catastrophisation. It needs to be noted at this point that the phrase ‘far right’ is a favourite smear of Tell Mama’s and has been used by them to describe people who either do not self describe as far right or can be readily identified as centrists or centre rightists. This includes a number of people and groups who are quite plainly not racist in their intents or opinions. ‘Far Right’ is Tell Mama’s smear of the day and is being used as the word ‘Islamophobia’ is becoming more and more mocked outside of the bubble of the ‘diversity’ world.

We urge Google to review how far-right websites are cheating its search algorithm through Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in order to improve their rankings on stories related to crime, sexual exploitation, and terrorism,” it stated.

Tell Mama have made the allegation that those whom they call ‘far right’ are ‘cheating’ its search algorithm. It’s not up to Google to assist Tell Mama in their quest for greater censorship, but for Tell Mama to back up their claims. It seems to be that Tell Mama want search engine companies to block key words on the whim and say so of Tell Mama. That would be a very dangerous level of power to hand to a bunch of mendacious grievance mongering taqiyya artists like Tell Mama.

A higher ranking not only increases their legitimacy but may draw vulnerable individuals into extreme echo chambers.”

Prove it Tell Mama. A higher ranking doesn’t ‘increase legitimacy’ it just means that there are many links and readers associated with a particular site. I note that Tell Mama seem to have no worries about the ‘echo chambers’ of the violent Left or Islamists.

The document, which looked at 1,223 “anti-Muslim acts” reported to the organisation last year, claimed that any association between grooming gangs and Muslim communities is “not backed by evidence”.

Although the report initially states 1,223 alleged ‘anti Muslim acts’, the number that Tell Mama verified was only 953 and a whopping 33% of those were related to ‘online’ activity. What this means is that one third of Tell Mama’s claimed ‘hate crimes’ are likely to be Muslims or Leftists, merely offended by someone’s critical comment about Islam or some disparaging remark about Islam, reporting it as a ‘hate crime’ to Tell Mama. This fits in with a general pattern of Tell Mama behaviour, that is to say they get unusually vexed about people saying nasty but sadly often true things about Islam. Of the incidents that Tell Mama reported as happening in the physical world, then their own data shows that the vast majority, 54% of incidents reported to Tell Mama were merely ‘abusive remarks’. The figure for physical attacks, which I presume includes many of the ‘hijab pulling’ incidents that Tell Mama is fond of reporting, whether or not they are true, is a measly 19%. Now it’s not nice for people to be physically attacked and physical attacks should be condemned, but let’s face it, 19% is a pretty small number when you take into account the number of Muslims in the UK. It’s also remarkably small a number bearing in mind some of the provocations that Muslim extremists and criminals have given Britons in the last decade. I would be completely unsurprised to find out that even the majority of the incidents in Tell Mama’s physical attacks category would not come into the categories of Grievous Bodily Harm and are likely to be minor pushing, shoving or other less serious examples of physical violence. In any event the sort of stuff that Tell Mama is reporting is remarkably tame for a country that is suffering from both Islamic terrorism and Islamic crime. Maybe it’s a testament both to the patience of the average Briton and to Tell Mama’s habit of hyperbole that the figures for serious violence are so remarkably low. There’s probably more violence occurring outside pubs on a Saturday night at chucking out time than Tell Mama have managed to find being directed at Muslims.

It seems as Tell Mama are playing dishonest game, just as they did following the Islamic murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby in 2013. Back then they lumped together both negative online comments about Islam and a much smaller number of genuine physical real world incidents. They are doing something similar today by concentrating on criticising and calling for the censorship of those who have negative opinions about Islam and, as in 2013, they are also talking up very minor issues, such as being shouted at in the street.

We come now to Tell Mama’s comments about the Islamic Rape Gang phenomenon. It is highly dishonest of Tell Mama to claim that the existence of this problem is ‘not backed by evidence’. Evidence has been amply provided in the growing number of cases coming before the courts where Muslims have been proven to be involved in sex trafficking and sexual abuse gangs. An examination of many of these cases will show that the vast majority of the members of such gangs, by dint of their names, are identifiable as Muslims. The number of those with identifiable Hindu or Sikh names involved in these sex gangs is remarkably small. There’s a handful of non-Muslims involved in these sex gangs but out of the dozens and dozens of Islamic Rape Gang members that have been tried, I estimate only about 10% were non-Muslims. The idea that criticising or pointing out the existence of Islamic Rape Gangs is ‘racist’ is utterly false, this is not an issue of race, this is an issue of an Islamic headspace that encourages men to treat women and especially non-Muslim women, as property to be used and abused according to the whim of Muslim men.

Pointing to alleged “bias in data collection”, the report’s authors described the “overrepresentation of Asian men” in child sexual exploitation grooming gang cases as only “apparent”, and asserted that sample sizes in studies have been “too small to draw national conclusions”.

Note that in their report when it comes to this issue, Tell Mama rely on vague ‘studies’ and not on the much more reliable court data and court reports in newspapers. Although crime data shows, as would be expected for a majority white Christian heritage country, that the greatest number of child sex offences are committed by non-Muslims, what we should remember is that Muslims are a minority in the UK, but they are producing a worryingly large and growing proportion of on-street grooming gang offenders. Note also the use by Tell Mama of the weasel word ‘Asian’ to describe the members of Islamic Rape Gangs. However this is yet another dishonesty from Tell Mama. The problem of on-street grooming plainly is not related to a person’s physical appearance or ethnic background, but it is primarily an Islamic problem, with its roots in a male Islamic sexuality that is best described as toxic. If I was a person of South Asian heritage and appearance and I was a Buddhist, Christian, Hindu or Sikh, I would be getting mightily pissed off with groups like Tell Mama who take a specifically Islamic problem, on-street grooming, and make it seem as if this problem is related to someone’s skin colour or background rather than the offender’s own Islamic belief system.

Tell Mama also seem to think that Muslims who murder people in terrorist jihad attacks are not as great a problem as people getting angry at Muslims following terrorist attacks.

Ms Hale’s article added:

In the event of a “terrorist attack associated with extremists from a Muslim background”, the report recommends that authorities crack down on “hate”.

Police forces should consider how some will use such events as pretexts for ideologically-driven violence and hate speech online which targets Muslims or their institutions,” it states.

So in other words, Tell Mama’s suggestion is that the police should target Britons for intimidation and arrest, if they complain about violent and murderous Islamic hatred in the form of bombs and vehicle attacks. In the twisted and dishonest world that Tell Mama inhabit, even speaking negatively about Islam following an attack done in the name of Islam, is classed as ‘hate speech’. The critical reaction and comments that Islam and its followers get following Muslim terrorist atrocities are not ‘hate’, they are a perfectly normal and natural emotional and political reaction to the murder of innocent men, women and children by the followers of a faith whose theology demands the death or enslavement of non-Muslims. It is apparent to me that Tell Mama’s ultimate aim is for the rest of us to be forced into silence by the state every time a Muslim decides to go ‘full Islam’ and murder innocent people. This is a desire that Tell Mama and groups like them should be denied.

Let’s move on now to some aspects of the report itself. Apart from the paucity of actual violent attacks reported to Tell Mama and the focus on ‘bad words’ whether spoken on the street or in cyberspace, what shines out is that much of their data seems to be made up of ‘hate crime’ reports. I consider this does make Tell Mama’s findings look even more shonky than they usually do.

Tell Mama are not basing their findings on arrests, charges or convictions, something that would be much more sound to rely on because there is a decent paper trail for this data, they are using mere ‘reports’ which can often be unsubstantiated allegations. There is no way of knowing how genuine these reports are and how much they reflect reality, since these allegations have not been properly tested by being brought before the courts. These allegations that Tell Mama rely so heavily on, could be anything. They could be deliberate politically motivated lies and they could be the result of the police and other agencies fishing for ‘hate crime’ reports and thereby inflating the number of reports. It’s also possible that those making the reports, especially regarding the reports where no violence is involved, could be mistaken, or over-sensitive or even attention-seeking. There is also the possibility that these allegations may even be the result of personal animosities between individuals, with people reported to Tell Mama in order to settle personal scores.

As for the academic sources that Tell Mama have used, I noticed several socialist ones and stuff that looks very much like it has come from those working in the social and cultural studies, politics and diversity fields of academia. As we can see from the information supplied by individuals like Dr Jordan Peterson and other observers of the academic cultural scene in the West, many of these fields are dominated by the political Left. Very few of those who are pushing Leftist thought in British and foreign universities can truly be described as open minded and unbiased. Even Tell Mama’s ‘peer review’ statement was written by a leftist academic. Their ‘peer reviewer’ Professor Peter Hopkins makes no secret of his bias towards Leftism on his staff page at Newcastle University. He lists his concerns as including: ‘racism, sexism, Islamophobia, sizism and ageism’. Professor Hopkins added that his work ‘tends to draw upon urban social, feminist and anti-racist research’. In other words Professor Hopkins is a fully paid up long term dweller of a leftist academic echo chamber. Obviously there is the potential for bias in the academic sources that Tell Mama have chosen to use and the socialist indoctrinator that they chose as their ‘peer reviewer’. Tell Mama’s academic sources and associates do not appear to be there to inform the issue but merely to provide some seeming academic weight to the usual thin gruel served up by the mendacious grievance mongering taqiyya artists of Tell Mama.

The report also has bad news for struggling social media giant Twitter. At a time when Twitter is experiencing a flattening of growth it is becoming a leftist echo chamber with conservatives, even mainstream constitutional conservatives like Ben Shapiro being forced off the platform. The very last thing that Twitter needs at the moment is more bad publicity. However it is bad publicity that they have got from Tell Mama. Their report confirmed that which many of us suspected, which is that Tell Mama have managed to acquire undue influence with Twitter and have been behind many of the removals of counter jihad and conservative personalities from Twitter. Both my own account and the accounts of other anti racist Islam opponents have been removed from Twitter at the suspected behest of Tell Mama and their worryingly tame political allies. I suspect the main losers in all this will be Twitter themselves. After all, who in their right minds would want to join a social media platform where the likes of questionable and dishonest organisations such as Tell Mama are standing over you and telling you what you can and can’t say? Would you really want these charlatans bossing you about or possibly digging down into the personal data that you may have used to register your Twitter account? I don’t, which is why I’m on Gab these days as @Fahrenheit211.

There is good news for alternative social media outlets, such as Gab and Minds, contained in the Tell Mama report. These free speech oriented platforms are starting to worry Tell Mama, especially as they have no way of controlling or pressuring the management of these platforms into following their orders. Of course Tell Mama will send some of their team of grasses and trolls over to Gab, just as they are alleged to have done with Twitter, but unlike with Twitter they will not have any influence with Gab management, who are probably more than aware of what the mountebanks of Tell Mama are like. Tell Mama are very obviously frightened of free speech, this shines out from this report. Although free speech can at times include ugly and nasty speech, it also allows for truths about Islam and other ideologies to be revealed, truths that the likes of Tell Mama appear desperate to hide. If platforms like Gab and Minds are taking flak from Tell Mama, then it is a sign that these entities are right over the target and the grievance mongering charlatans of Tell Mama feel threatened by that.

To conclude: This latest annual report from Tell Mama is the same old guff that we have come to expect from them. There’s similar stuff to that seen in other annual reports from Tell Mama. There’s the dubious and sometimes vague reports of ‘hate crime’, the catastrophisation of relatively minor incidents, the left wing academics trotted out to fool the unwary into thinking that Tell Mama might have a point and their by now naked and obvious distaste for the idea that people can freely criticise the ideology of Islam. Although I accept the idea that no innocent person should be physically attacked because of their religious beliefs, Tell Mama have gone beyond merely monitoring genuine physical attacks, something that is somewhat justified, and are now trying to shut down all manifestations and expressions of a dislike of Islam, no matter how well founded that dislike may be.

Tell Mama would be a joke if they were not so well funded by the taxpayer and had not been given so much unwarranted access to and influence over politicians and government and security agencies. The scandal of Tell Mama is not that they exist per se, after all freedom of association is an important freedom, but that we are paying for these charlatans and hyperbolic shroud wavers to tell us what we can and cannot say about an ideology that many people perceive as a threat. People have had their rights to speak freely and candidly about Islam curtailed by the actions of Tell Mama and similar groups and in some cases people have unreasonably lost their liberty and freedom because of the involvement of Tell Mama in particular cases. For too long now this group has been allowed to hawk their tainted wares around police forces, government departments and the media and have been subjected to very little effective challenge. This free ride that Tell Mama have got from the authorities needs to stop and stop now as not only have Tell Mama been shown repeatedly to be shifty and dishonest, but they have also shown intense fear and dislike of the idea that individuals have a right to express an opinion even if it is one that some people may find ‘offensive’. Of course there is a need to monitor particular crimes, including real and genuine physical crimes against individual Muslims, but Tell Mama is a deeply flawed tool with which to undertake this task. Tell Mama are the third sector equivalent of the man that nobody in their right mind would buy a used car from. Tell Mama is the ‘cut and shut’ and ‘disguised insurance write off’ of Britain’s political ecosystem and it is now time for Britons to press our politicians to act in the interests of all of us and excise this bunch of charlatans from their positions of influence, and to stop wasting our money on them.
