If the French Government can close down extremist mosques why can’t Britain?

There is a very interesting and informative article published on a site called Europe Israel News that shows that the French government is at least recognising in part where the source of the appalling terrorism that France has suffered from is coming from. The article tells how the French government has ordered four mosques linked to Islamic extremism to be closed down because they are alleged by the French authorities to be centres of jihad promotion. The article also asks the very important question which is why were these extremist mosques allowed in the first place?

Sadly France is not alone in having terror promotion going on in its mosques and neither are they alone in having mosques that are linked to extremist groups. In the UK we have some seriously dangerous Islamic organisations, such as the East London Mosque which is linked to Jamaat e Islami a South Asian theocratic fascist organisation. Entities like the East London Mosque are not only operating freely but are also lauded by politicians, leftist activists such as Citizens UK and even by the heir to the British throne Prince Charles.

But the East London Mosque is not the only one that should give the great and the good along with the rest of us great cause for concern. Up and down the country there are mosques that are acting in ways that are detrimental to the public good.

There are mosques that refused to condemn the epidemic of child rape that has occurred in almost every area where Muslims have settled in the UK. There are mosques that have encouraged sex slavery and mosques who have to a greater or lesser degree encouraged Jihad. It’s not a case that Britain’s mosques are more ‘clean hands’ than the mosques in France, it’s just that the authorities are doing damn all about these problem mosques. A culture of pandering to Islam that has grown up among the police, civil servants, local and national politicians has ensured that Islamic Imams are free to spout whatever seditious or misogynistic or troublesome guff they like and they will not sanctioned by the state. Furthermore there seems to be little effort made by allegedly peaceful and integrated Muslims themselves to deal with Islamic extremists or extremist mosques. It’s almost as if these ordinary Muslims have a ‘so what’ attitude to the promotion of hatred and extremism that goes on in British mosques. This is something that you don’t see in almost any other religious group whether a majority religious group or a minority one. If I for example stood up in a British synagogue and promoted violence against members of other groups (which in reality I would not do) then not only would I most likely be reported to the police but the congregation itself would disown me because of my views and describe me as a threat to peace. We don’t see this sort of anti extremist behaviour in British mosques. Very very few Muslims speak up publicly enough or loudly enough against the promotion of violence by Islamic clerics. I know of only one case where an ordinary Muslim bravely disowned and criticised those in his mosque who were calling for the death of those who insulted Islam.

I believe that in the UK there are a large number of mosques, some high profile like the East London Mosque and others not so high profile who have hosted hate preachers, encouraged extreme and hostile separatism or even shown utter disdain for British law and British culture. Unfortunately these mosques are not being dealt with in the robust manner with which they should be dealt with and worse they are being pandered to or merely being given a slap on the wrist and told ‘now don’t do it again’ when they’ve been caught out hosting hate preachers. Even when it was known that hate preachers were operating out of Finsbury Park Mosque for example the police went easy on both the mosque and the management partially out of fear of being accused of being ‘racist’ something that can be career damaging for a police officer.

The way the authorities deal with the problem of extremism in British mosques is really not good enough and I look across the Channel and watch how the French government is shutting down dangerous mosques with a sense of envy. If the French government can start to take action against mosques that are promoting extremism then why can’t the British government do the same?

We should not be tolerating mosques who host preachers who call for the murder of Jews or Christians or gays or call for the enslavement of women or promote jihad. A civilised society should in my view be able to cope with a diversity of views both political and religious but there are lines that should not be crossed by religious or political organisations. It’s obvious to me and to many other Britons that much of what has gone on and is being promoted in British mosques would cross many people’s own ‘red lines’ yet little or nothing is being done to deal with this problem We as a nation should not tolerate and should be angry about mosques who host speakers who say sex slavery is OK or that the genocidal fraggles of Hamas are ‘freedom fighters’ or that Jihad is acceptable. As well as not tolerating the intolerable hatred that is coming out of Britain’s mosques we should also not be tolerating those politicians who have by both their actions and their inactions allowed the cancer of Islam, a faith known for its intolerance of others, to metastasise on our islands. I believe that the problem of Islamic extremism along with many of the other problems such as crime and the phenomenon of Islamic Rape Gangs, would have been far less grave had politicians done the right thing and dealt much more robustly and effectively with troublesome Muslims than they have done so far.

The French, despite their various governments making huge mistakes when it comes to Islam, are at least starting to tackle the problem by closing down extremism linked mosques. Sadly there is no sign that the British state is going to do likewise. I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for the police to start kicking down doors of mosques linked to crime, or sex slavery or terror but it something that desperately needs to happen and happen very soon.
