Video – THIS is what an intelligent Parliamentarian looks like

Jacob Rees-Mogg speaks during Prime Minister's Questions in the House of Commons, London, as David Cameron risked fuelling a fresh wave of anger among his Eurosceptic backbenchers after accusing the prominent Tory of spreading a "scare story".

What a fabulous video of an equally fabulous performance from Jacob Rees-Mogg speaking in the House of Commons. It’s probably the most intelligent, erudite and passionate speech from an MP that I’ve seen in a long while. He’s dead right when he said that the Remaniacs in the House of Commons are showing contempt for the electorate and contempt for the British people, how could the behaviour of the pro-EU types in the Commons be described as anything else?

I’m not saying that this wonderful piece of oratory is Churchillian, but it comes damn close to being described as such.

Mr Rees-Mogg’s performance in the chamber shows that he is everything that the likes of Stella Creasy and David Lammy are plainly not. Mr Rees-Mogg enhances the reputation of our Parliamentary democracy whereas Creasy and Lammy demean it. Mr Rees-Mogg represents to me the very best of the conservative ideal, in that he respects and draws on the past but also looks ahead to the future. In my opinion a future where Britian is free from the depredations of the EU is also a future that is much brighter than it could have been had the Remainers won.

Watch this video and for once be proud of at least one member of a House that has too often quite correctly been the butt of jokes and of public disgust.
