An example of a leftist embedded in Britain’s public services

It’s difficult to get an idea just how many lunatic leftist ideologues that are embedded in Britain’ s public services, but I encountered one myself recently. I had to take my son to my local doctors surgery for his booster vaccinations. As I’m a pretty social person and I’m trying to encourage my son to be social and friendly, I engaged the nurse, a pleasant seeming and efficient woman in her late thirties or early forties, about some of the diseases that were present when I was a child but which are less of a problem now due to vaccination. I remarked to her that one of the benefits of being a mid life parent was that we had gathered a fair bit of common sense and better judgement than some younger parents may have done. I said that I was pleased to no longer have to worry about my child being carried off by diphtheria, or smallpox or any of the other now mostly vanquished diseases of the past.

I said to her that one thing that stuck in my mind was an incident that happened when I was in hospital as a child having an ear operation. The child in the next bed to me was looking forward to his first pair of shoes as this child had been crippled due to Polio. This child had been in Great Ormond Street with me and I presume had been having operations to correct limb problems caused by Polio. I also remarked to the nurse that it was a great shame that diseases that we once thought vanquished, such as Tuberculosis, had been reimported into the UK and more specifically into East London. I asked about TB vaccination for my child as I’m worried about him contracting it when he has to visit relatives who are still living in this area. I realised that I was dealing with a Leftie when she dodged and evaded around the reasons for the sudden rise in TB in East London. According to her reasoning, which I ascertained based on her evasion of the real reasons for the rise in TB, it seemed that TB miraculously reappeared in that area and had nothing to do with mass migration from countries where TB is endemic.

During the discussion I said that it was a shame that that the medical charlatan Andrew Wakefield managed to con so many people in Britain into refusing vaccinations and how he did so on shonky and ethically dubious studies. I then received from the nurse a tirade about Donald Trump. The nurse said ‘Wakefield is in America and he’s getting help from Trump’. I was utterly astonished by this massive bit of dishonest ideological guff. I explained to her calmly that anti-vaccine lunatics existed long before Trump. I added that members of my own family had fallen victim to the anti vaccine scaremongering that existed in the 1970’s and my cousin, a baby at the time, almost lost his life to Whooping Cough because he wasn’t vaccinated.

What this conversation with the nurse at the doctor’s surgery told me was that there are knee jerk Trump haters and promulgators of Leftist ideology in all levels of Britain’s public sector. What bothers me about this incident is that this Trump hating nurse was a relative random. I didn’t seek her out because of her views, she’s just the medic that I was allocated, by dint of geographical catchment area, by the National Health Service. If we have relatively junior medical staff who are willing to push their own warped and counter-factual political views on patients and the families of patients then it shows that we have a problem with a leftist culture in both the NHS and in our wider public services. This incident also shows to me that some NHS staff have little problem with promoting their own left wing views when given gentle prompting to do so and for me this incident gives some credence to claims that NHS staff are overtly politicised. This should worry users of the NHS as politicised staff may end up making decisions based not on clinical need but on political ideology.

One thing that greatly concerns me about this incident is that I am an informed patient and an informed parent. Because of my knowledge and experience of life and of politics, I was able to counter her twisted views of President Trump and disabuse her of her view that Donald Trump is backing the anti vaccine lunatics. However there are many other parents and patients out there who may not be so well informed about these matters and they may be swallowing the left wing guff expressed by NHS staff wholesale, because they respect those whom the patient or parent sees as possessing of expert knowledge. It bothers me that this nurse may have been promulgating all sorts of left wing bullshit to her patients which is being taken on trust by those members of the public that she comes into contact with. This incident tells me much about the mindset of Britain’s public services and how far left wing politics has burrowed its way into places where it is plainly not needed.
