Friday Night Movie 156 – Killers from Space

It’s back to the 1950’s for some sci-fi tonight with the creature feature ‘Killers From Space’ starring the late great actor Peter Graves, who later found great fame in the 1980 comedy film ‘Airplane’.

Killers From Space concerns a nuclear scientist working on US atomic weapons tests who while a passenger in a plane carrying out measurements of the results of a nuclear test. The plane crashes but although the pilot’s body is found, there is no sign of Dr Doug Martin (played by Mr Graves).

Dr Graves turns up at his place of employment, behaving very strangely indeed. The military decided that he is a security risk and interrogate him using a truth drug. The story he tells seems absolutely fantastical and he raves about an alien invasion. Dr Martin then embarks on a desperate quest to find confirmation for what he believes he has seen and to stop the aliens and their invasion.

This is a pretty good example of the 1950’s creature feature / alien invasion genre and has a very exciting climax. Well worth a watch if you are into mid 20th century sci-fi movies.
