Pray that the sickness of Leftism in the US Reform Judaism movement is cured

Although I’m a non-Orthodox Jew, I am politically a Jew of the centre-Right. I like the fact that men and women are considered as equal in this form of Judaism but I dislike the way that this particular Jewish path has been infiltrated and in some cases controlled by secular Leftists.

Another person who seems to share my concern about what is happening in some parts of non Orthodox Judaism is the writer Caroline Glick. Ms Glick, writing in Front Page Magazine, in my view quite correctly bemoans the way that the US Reform Judaism movement has abandoned the idea of following Jewish law and instead become a club for secular Leftists.

Ms Glick’s article contains much that should give religious Jews of a non-Orthodox persuasion much to be concerned about. US Reform and Liberal Jews are failing on both a moral and a political basis to do what’s right. Their are issuing excoriating criticisms of Israel even shoehorning such criticisms into Rosh Hashanah sermons and failing to speak up or defend Orthodox Jews when they are attacked by African American anti-Semites.

I’m horrified by what is going on with US non-Orthodox Judaism and also saddened. These leftists have taken a Reform movement that wanted to encourage personal examination of both the mitzvot and the Torah and turned it into an empty shell of a faith. Whether you are Jewish or not I would strongly advise you to read Ms Glick’s piece as many of the types of leftist activity that are hollowing out US Reform are also present in other religious groups as well.

I pray that the leadership of the US Reform movement can come to their senses and turn towards the Eternal One and away from a leftism that is almost certainly going to be destructive.
