Farage does the right thing.

Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party has done their bit to try to help the Conservative Party electorally by standing down candidates in seats where the Tories won in the 2017 General Election. This is a bold move that removes some of the threat that having a Brexit Party candidate challenging a Tory candidate. Such a scenario could have split the Brexiteer vote and allow the seat to be taken by either the odious and anti-democratic Lib Dems or the now far Left Labour Party. A split vote could even put the Marxist and terrorist fan Jeremy Corbyn in Number Ten and the prosepect of Corbyn as Prime Minister is something that many Britons should quite rightly dread. A Corbyn victory would mean no Brexit of any sort, completely open borders, economic disaster and a further evisceration of rights such as freedom of speech.

Like many people, I dislike immensely the withdrawal deal drawn up by the Tory government of Boris Johnson. I’d prefer that Britain just stuck two fingers up to the European Union and just walked away. Unfortunately that is not the case, we are faced with a scenario where Boris’s deal is the least worst option when it comes to escaping an EU that has become little more than a new German Empire. It’s obvious to me and hopefully to others that, in part because of the machinations by the Remainers in the last Parliament, that divorcing ourselves from the EU is going to be as long term a process as a regular divorce.

At least Boris’s deal puts us on the first steps to getting out of the EU prison whereas splitting the Leave vote by having two Leave parties fighitng one another, just helps the Labour Party. If Labour get in either by themselves or with the help of the Liberal Democrats and the Scottish National Party, then we can kiss any sort of Brexit goodbye. Killing Brexit will be one of the first things that a Corbyn government would do which, along with the fact that Labour is now a Jew hating Islam appeasing party, is why the prospect of a Corbyn government scares the life out of me. Like all too many British Jews the threat of a Corbyn government is causing me to make sure I know where are our passports and have an emergency bug out bag packed, just in case. However it should not be forgotten that Corbyn would not just be bad for Britain’s Jews, it would be bad for everyone. Imagine the whole country run like some of Labour’s awful local fiefdoms like Tower Hamlets, Rotherham, Bradford, Birmingham or Waltham Forest. Everyone should quite rightly be scared of such a prospect.

Nigel Farage has done the right thing here by standing down candidates in previously Tory held seats as it is in these seats that the danger of a vote split is the greatest. The problem of splitting Leave votes is less of a problem in those Labour held seats in the North of England where theTories have traditionally done very badly. In these seats it seems much more likely that the Tory vote will stay roughly the same or be slightly less, but it will be the Labour Party that is hit hard by votes being transferred by traditional Labour voters to the Brexit Party. I’m not sure that the Tories should reciprocate in these Northern Labour seats as to do so would give the impression of the Tory party being weak and this perceived weakness would be mercilessly exploited by Labour in particular. It may be a better tactic to not withdraw a no hope candidate in a Northern seat that is unwinnable for the Tories but just not try too hard when campaigning.

I have to admit that I think the electorate’s priorities should be a) remove the threat of Corbyn and his Marxists and b) secure some sort of pro-Brexit majority in the Commons. I think that can best be achieved under Britain’s First Past the Post Electoral system by voting Brexit Party where they have a chance of hurting Labour and Tory where the threat comes from the Liberal Democrats. If we want any sort of Brexit and we want any sort of decent nation to hand on to our children, then Corbyn must be stopped and then the work must begin to make Britain free of the EU.
