The Birmingham stabathon

Location of Birmingham

This is a replacement article for one that I took down due to error and lack of information.

When I first heard of the story of the Birmingham stabathon that occurred in the early hours of this morning my first thought was this smelled very heavily of Jihad. The location and the targets of the stabber were very reminiscent of other similar mass stabbing jihad attacks that have occurred as was the obscurantism of West Midlands Police in their statement to the public.

It turns out that this attack was not on this occasion jihad but instead a much more serious example of the sort of drunken debauchery that afflicts all too many of Britain’s towns and cities. It’s no thanks to the police that more information has come out but thanks to eyewitnesses who spoke to the media.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to BBC Radio Five and which was relayed on Twitter, there were multiple conflicts between different groups, not all monoracial it appears, who were slinging racial insults at each other. The eyewitness said that the club that she worked at, which caters more for a Black crowd, was much more ‘multicultural’ than usual. She said that this was not the usual sort of aggro over girls or spilled beer that she has previously witnessed but something far more serious. Groups of people were attacking one another she said and she alleged that she heard what see believed were several gunshots although this has not been confirmed.

This was a serious and damaging incident but on this occasion it does not appear to have been jihad related. I hope and pray that there have been no deaths from this stabathon outrage and that those injured are not seriously so.
