Pakistan is a national analogue of one of those recalcitrant turds that no matter how many times you flush the toilet, refuses to go away. It is one of the world’s premier hate filled, oppressive and dangerous shitholes and that state has in large part been caused by Pakistan’s insistence that it is a nation that is run by Islam. It is Islam and little else that has caused Pakistan’s poverty, ignorance, oppression and social problems.
Sadly, there seems little chance that a cure for Pakistan’s malaise, the nation turning into a broadly secular state, will emerge from within Pakistan or Pakistani culture. This is because the Lahore High Court has demanded that Pakistani schools have compulsory Koran lessons. Unfortunately I doubt very much that what would be taught in these compulsory lessons from the Islamic Big Book of Death, would be aligned with that of the Ahmediyya minority,one of the few Islamic paths that have embraced peace. It is far more likely that Pakistani school children will be force fed the sort of uncompromising and hate filled Islam of a type that has got Pakistan into the position of being a shithole filled with ignorant and bigoted extremists in the first place.
Here’s a report from a Pakistani news source called Bol News (h/t ROP) about how Islam will further dominate the Pakistani school curriculum.

The petitioner in its appeal stated that despite the lapse of three years, the Punjab Compulsory Teaching Holy Quran Act is not being implemented.
The appeal sought that the court quashes the single bench’s application and order that the teachings of the Holy Qur’an be made an integral part of the curriculum in educational institutions.
Advocate General Punjab said in the court that legislation is not possible without the approval of the cabinet, the court should issue instructions regarding making the Qur’an a compulsory subject.
Justice Shahid Waheed remarked that if the advice is not being implemented, then the court can call the Chief Minister.
“From next academic year, the Holy Quran should be taken as a compulsory subject.”
It may be recalled that in November, the petitioner approached the Court over the implementation of compulsory Quranic Teachings in all educational institutes in Pakistan.
This will further entrench Islam in Pakistani society and worse than that entrench some of the very worst forms of Islam on the planet in that nation. Pakistan seems to have discovered a method to take a country that could have been like its neighbour India, prosperous and dynamic, instead it has decided that the seventh century is really where it wants to be as a nation.
