Quote of the Day 10/02/2021 – Why collective insanities happen.

Societal collective madness has been responsible for all manner of horrific things over the centuries. These bouts of collective insanity have been responsible for the murder of Jews over false accusations of the killing of Christian children, the Witchcraft panics, the atrocities committed by both Fascism and Communism and so much more. They mostly occur in societies where those who hold dissenting views are punished or societies that make potential dissidents fear punishment by either the State or by a mob. Neither the Nazis nor the Communists could have done what they did without a population that feared to say ‘no’ to either absurdities of viewpoint or ‘no’ to exhortations to commit atrocities.

In today’s world we have a multitude of people who fear to speak their mind because of the ‘woke’ mobs that have sprung up in recent years. The ‘woke’ mobs and those who appease them have created a society where individuals fear speaking out against obvious insanity. People fear challenging the obviously false claim that there are 100 or more genders, fear to speak up for abused children and young women at the hands of rape gangs for fear of being called ‘racist’ and fear to speak about any ‘controversial’ subject at all or even to give voice to their own conscience.

This is not going to end well and as the philosopher Stephen Pinker points out in the short video below, history shows us just how badly a society dominated by fear of dissent ends up.
