US President Joe Biden has a habit of making statements that show him to be one of those people who are quite happy to engage in what is called ‘the racism of low expectations’. He has a record of not believing that Black Americans can think for themselves politically, as we saw during the recent election when he told a Black interviewer that ‘if you don’t vote Democrat then you ain’t Black’. He has made statements in the past against integration in schools where he said that they would turn into a ‘racial jungle’ if integrated which implied quite heavily that Black American children were not capable of learning. Also during the last election Biden said this during a conversation: “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids”.
All these statements show that Biden may well not believe that everyone in America should have the same expectations. His racism of low expectations treats minority Americans as if they were less than those in the majority, incapable of learning, incapable of making political decisions and that Black Americans are always destined to be poor.
However quite recently Biden excelled himself with his low expectation racism by claiming in a broadcast that Black and Latina Americans can’t or have difficulty getting online in order to book a Coronavirus vaccine. This comment is as you may be aware, massively condescending towards Black and Latina Americans. It treats them as being too stupid to do a websearch or connect to the internet or do all the other things necessary to get through daily life.
Biden’s comment was crying out to be mocked and rightly so. This mocking came to be done in a magnificent form by a Black American who decided that the best way to mock Biden’s racism of low expectations was to try to recreate or pay homage to the famous ‘monkeys and the monolith’ scene from Stanley Kubrick’s classic movie 2001. I found this video on the Twitter account of a guy called Ashley StClair and I’ve embedded the video below.
I’ve done a little digging and I can’t find reams of outrage coming from Democrats over Biden’s racism of low expectations, they seem to be letting this pass them by. But, can you imagine what would be the reaction if the last President, President Trump had said something so crass and racist? The answer is that there would have been outrage.
The guy behind the mockery of Joe Biden’s racism of low expectations is an absolute genius for coming up with this. This is because he doesn’t just mock Biden’s verbal bilge, but also the whole concept of racism of low expectations. Let’s have ore of this sort of mockery of politicians, media types, the divisive identity politics lunatics and the woke obsessives. It could do a lot more good than many other more serious and intellectual denunciations of them as it reaches far more people because it makes them laugh.
