A lot of people have been conned over Ivermectin

There’s a brilliant series of articles over at the Respectful Insolence blog about the anti worming drug Ivermectin and how various conspiracy theorists and grifters are falsely claiming that this drug can treat Covid. For those of us who read science based medical sites and blogs and who understand the scientific method, it’s pretty obvious that Ivermectin doesn’t work against Covid. Sure it might have shown some early promise when tested In Vitro, but from many of the accounts of such tests I’ve seen, the level of dose needed to kill the Covid virus In Vitro, is far higher than would be safe to use in the human body.

The claim that Ivermectin is a cure for Covid is a hoax. It is not effective and if you follow the link below and read Respectful Insolence’s comments about how the Ivermectin trials have been carried out, it’s difficult not to come to the conclusion that some of the studies that are highly praised by some, are either badly carried out or may even be fraudulent.

If you spend any time at all on Social Media and especially alt social media, the sort that is beyond the grasp of Big Tech, then you will find a lot of people parroting science free guff about Ivermectin. Sadly for them, they are wrong. A lot of the so called clinical studies into Ivermectin have been so badly botched that it is highly likely that it was not Ivermectin that gave a slight improvement to the condition of study patients, but the other interventions that the patients were getting at the time.

There are a lot of people out there who, for various reasons, desperately want there to be a wonder drug that will be effective against Covid. There might well be, either in the future or with repurposed drugs, a way of reducing the damage to the body that Covid does but the only way to stop this damage is to stop Covid spreading and reduce the effects on the body when it comes into contact with the Covid virus.

I find it incredibly sad and depressing that people are putting their faith in de-worming medications like Ivermectin and making outrageous and untrue claims about it when there is already a wonder drug, the Covid vaccinations, that will both prevent Covid infection and reduce the damage that it does. The Ivermectin promoters are foolishly chasing after a mythical sword to fight Covid, when a real and effective sword that can be used to stop Covid, in the form of Covid vaccinations, already exists. It’s time for the Ivermectin advocates to realise that they’ve been conned and conned very badly.
