Liverpool Hospital bombing – It’s beginning to look a lot like it could be Jihad of some sort.

The Liverpool explosion

There has still been no confirmation at the time of writing from Merseyside or Greater Manchester Police, who are the regional counter terror unit, about the motivation behind the terrorist who blew himself up in a cab outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital. The very long delay and the pleas by the police not to speculate are giving rise to suspicions that this is another example of violent Jihad being perpetrated in the UK. Of course these suspicions could be wrong, the perpetrator could be following any number of causes ranging from far right politics through to anarchism via anti vaccination lunacy, but at this stage there is a lot of things about this case and the police and politicians reaction to it that suggest that it might be jihad.

Here’s why this could be jihad. Firstly there is a long delay in the police making an announcement about motive even though they have admitted that this is a terrorism matter. If this was a far right attack then I’ve little doubt that we would have been told that very quickly. Also suicide attacks are not normally associated with the far right.

Secondly, as the Ambush Predator blog pointed out, the police are running around and consulting ‘community leaders’ and reassuring ‘communities’ following the incident. This sort of activity is more often than not seen following an Islamic terror attack, especially the consultation of ‘community leaders’ by which they mean local Islamic religious panjandrums. Thirdly there’s the involvement of the Government’s emergency briefing system COBRA and the raising of the UK’s terror threat level. This unit is unlikely to have been activated nor the alert status raised had this been for example a loner with a grudge against the NHS, even though there are a growing number of people who are dissatisfied with the NHS or have active reasons to hate it.

Fourthly it is being reported in various places that the Security Service, MI5, has been brought in and that statements have been made to some media outlets that the self exploding individual was not on any active watch lists. Fifthly there is the time and location of the attack. The bomb exploded a short distance away from local Remembrance events in Liverpool but various reports out there state that the taxi driver pulled into the hospital car park where he had been scheduled to drop off his fare. The bomber also set off his bomb at 10:59, one minute before the two minute silence for the fallen from Britain’s many wars was due to begin.

Finally, there’s this post from Esmerelda Weatherwax from the New English Review. I’ve found her previous statements on Islamic atrocities in the UK to be pretty accurate. When she has called an incident as being Islam related then she’s often been correct.

Liverpool bomber was of Middle Eastern background and not known to MI5 – latest updates

From the Telegraph. As suspected, both from the MO, and anecdotal comments (often quickly deleted) on  local Liverpool  social media and fora.

The Remembrance Sunday terrorist originated from the Middle East but was not known to the security services, The Telegraph can disclose.

The bomber, who died when his Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off, had ordered a taxi to take him to Liverpool Women’s Hospital but well-placed sources stressed his motivation remained unclear as was his intended target.

One possible theory is the bomber was intending to walk towards Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral to detonate the device as the congregation left following a Remembrance Day service.

The Telegraph understands that counter-terorism police and MI5 are concerned that the attack took place so shortly after the fatal stabbing of David Amess, the Conservative MP.

The two incidents are not linked but it raises fears that terror plotters are now planning to carry out attacks now that the UK has come out of a Covid-19 lockdown.

The motive for the latest attack is unclear but the fact the dead suspect came from the Middle East will increase the likelihood that it was Islamist inspired.

It is also unclear if the terrorist had come recently to the UK or even been born here but from a Middle East background.

He was not on any MI5 watchlist, meaning he was not subject to a current ongoing investigation or had been investigated in the past.

Whilst there is the possibility that this incident might not be Islam related, there a lot of ‘noises off’ that give cause to believe that this incident might be Islam related.

These noises include: The counter terror police and MI5 being involved, the activation of COBRA, the alleged purging of comments identifying the bomber or his associates as being ‘middle eastern looking’ from local social media, the timing and location of the incident and the failure to describe this attack as being attributable to the far right despite there being a political and narrative rationale for doing so. Finally there’s the modus operandi of the attack. Suicide bombing is not something that we’ve come to expect from any other potential terrorist apart from those who emanate from the world of Islam. It’s not a tactic that has been used to any great extent by the home grown far right nor is it something that British gangsters have used either. It’s certainly unlikely to be the sort of tactic that the Left or the anarchists or even the deranged and increasingly aggressive anti vax types would choose to use. It certainly ain’t the Methodists behind this so what does that leave?
