Omar Loubak Mohamed, an interesting voice to watch out for.

Omar Loubak Mohamed is a student at Royal Holloway College and was one of those who invited Baroness Claire Fox from the Academy of Ideas to speak to a debating society. Because Baroness Fox has a long record for standing up for free speech and standing against the excesses of the gender identity cult, the debating society was put under pressure from the local Student Union to disinvite Baroness Fox. The Student Union did all that they could apparently to stop Baroness Fox from attending the event and tried to use safeguarding excuses to prevent the baroness from speaking. Eventually they found some social media posts that showed Baroness Fox republishing a joke by Ricky Gervais, which the student union used as a ‘reason’ for forbidding Baroness Fox from speaking.

Mr Mohamed did his utmost to stand up to the student union but apparently the pressures put upon the debating society by the union which included threats of funding withdrawal got to the rest of the committee who caved into the union’s demands.

Mr Mohamed recently appeared on GB News to discuss this and although he was obviously nervous at being on the TV, he did a pretty good job of standing up for free speech and for open debate. I was delighted to see Mr Mohamed’s appearance and to hear what he said as it showed that not all students are lefty snowflakes offended by everything. If Mr Mohamed continues in his quest to protect and enhance free speech then I suspect that we will be hearing a lot more about this young man. He might not have won this particular battle to get Baroness Fox to speak at Royal Holloway, but he’s done a massive amount to show the public that all is not well with regards free speech in Britain’s university sector. I think that this man is going to be a name to watch out for.
