A brief thought on Accession Day 2023

Just over a year ago the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations lost Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She died having completed the longest ever reign of a British monarch. Her reign was so long that there were many British people who were born, lived full lives, raised families, had grandchildren and then passed away under the reign of one single monarch. This is something that really only happened to so many people before under the 64 year reign of Queen Victoria. Many Britons have lived their entire lives under Queen Elizabeth II and the shock of her passing, even though many of suspected that might be imminent, was profound.

Her Late Majesty’s long reign was defined by her sense of duty to the nation and she was an inspiration for many because of that.

I’d like to take this opportunity on the anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II to be thankful for her service to the nation and its people.

Long Live The King.
