Two anniversaries, two acts of horror, one accursed cause behind both

Yesterday was the anniversary of two horrific attacks on Britons. One was a mass casualty attack on a pop concert and the other the murder of an innocent British serviceman. But they both have the same cause and that’s Islam.

13 years ago on the 22nd of May, an off duty British soldier Lee Rigby was walking through Woolwich in South London when he was attacked by two Nigerian converts to Islam. They murdered him, and they murdered him for no other reason than he was non-Muslim, British and a serviceman. He was murdered in the name of, and in pursuit of, the victory of Islam over everyone else.

8 years ago, also on the 22nd of May as members of the public were exiting an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena an Islamic suicide bomber set off his backpack bomb killing 22 innocent people and injuring over a thousand. The suicide bomber, a Libyan who should never have been allowed into the UK, also murdered in the name of Islam and to advance the ideology of Islam.

These are just two of the attacks carried out on Britons by the followers of Islam but there have been a lot more. Since the late 1990’s, the vast majority of terror attacks, of religious and political extremism and crimes committed in connection with religious and political extremism have been carried out or engaged in by Muslims. It’s not the Methodists or the Jews or the Roman Catholics who are doing this but primarily it’s Muslims. Even the great big Establishment bogeyman the ‘far right’ has a miniscule number of deaths and injuries to their name when compared to the body count of Islam and its followers. Even though I still cling to the notion that there are many Muslims who are not dangerous, we should not blind ourselves to the fact that the primary terror and extremism threat we in Britain face comes from Islam and it is Islam the ideology that propels some Muslims to be dangerous to both other Muslims and non-Muslims.

May the memories of Lee Rigby and those killed and injured in the Manchester attack be for blessings. May we also never ever forget what ideology was behind their deaths.
