Quote of the day (2) – Liberalism is dead because it doesn’t have strong arguments in its favour.

I’ve come to admire Peter North the political commentator. He doesn’t sugarcoat his diagnosis of what is wrong with the UK but nearly all of his stuff is worth reading.

In this piece that Mr North published on X he takes aim at those on the Left who cower and wet themselves over the ‘rise of the far right’. He said that those who bleat about this issue but fail to see that it’s liberalism’s own policies that have failed have no answers to Britain’s current problems. As a civic nationalist I believe that if civic nationalism is to be saved and ethnonationalism staved off, then the genuine grievances of British people need to be listened to and there must be more effort to enforce British values even if such enforcement offends the false gods of multiculturalism.

This piece by Mr North is well worth a read. You can find the original of Mr North’s piece via this link https://x.com/FUDdaily/status/1993853766974472587

Mr North said:

“If you’re left wing and the “rise of the far right” keeps you awake at night, here’s some advice for you. Get better arguments and start respecting your fellow countrymen.

If you’re a parent with young girls, you’re within your rights to worry about a migrant hotel in your community – especially since the government is setting them up without consultation or consent, and in conjunction with the local press is actively concealing migrant crime.

Meanwhile, you;re going to have to explain to people struggling to make ends meet why it’s in their interests to pay tens of billions to accommodate low skill immigration cheats. Since you’re essentially arguing for open borders (a distinctly neoliberal policy) you’re going to have to set out the economic case as to why wage suppression is in the interests of young Brits.

Y’see, all that shtick about them being doctors and engineers doesn’t wash, and most people correctly identify them as economic migrants. The public has a better grasp of the issues than you because they are more likely to live with the consequences.

Meanwhile your “billionaires” deflection shtick isn;t going to work. The majority of billionaires funnel cash into left wing organisations. They LOVE cheap replacement labour. And it’s not billionaires out on the streets of London and Birmingham hack at people with machetes.

You’re also going to have to explain why hard pressed brits should be paying billions in benefits to people who weren’t even born here and don’t work.

There’s a reason ordinary people are drifting more towards the fringes of politics and that’s because they can’t get what they want from mainstream politics. the average normie doesn’t want the Fourth Reich. They’re not Nazis. They just want border control, which for some reason is too much to ask of the establishment parties.

If, then, you don’t want people turning to ethnonatinalism, start enforcing those “British values” – which do not extend to tolerating Islamic sectarianism and stone age treatment of women. If you want to sell a civic identity, you have to explain what’s in it for us.

If, though, you’re sticking to the view that all border control is racist, as indeed are borders, and that your fellow countrymen are just ignorant brainwashed racists then they will simply despise you – and will stop caring about being called racist. But then we know why you don’t bother with persuasion. Your arguments are poor. We know and so do you. You’re simply wrong, and that’s why liberalism is dying.”

  1. I disagree, this misnamed leftist “liberalism” isn’t dying, it’s doubling down.
It’s akin to a virulent infection, causing a rise in temperature and inflammation, in this case the deliberate inflammation of the populace.
Where it differs from a virulent inflammation is that any “immune response” is rapidly suppressed bby the Leftist “liberal” media, the Marxist “intelligentsia” often now with the politicised Stasi-like Plods and activist (in)justice system wading in, changing the rules .
In reality what we have is an aggressive malignant cancer that has embedded itself in every institution and personally I don’t see a way out short of violence as any discussion or safety valve has been blocked.
The very nature of the malevolent student union Trots infesting the government and their civil service and union lapdogs is allowing them to use every instrument of suppression and oppression at their disposal, mass surveillance, the tax regime even satellites to “value” our 3-bedroom “mansions” to weaken us, the BritCard slavery and removal of jury trials, our Magna Carta rights, put in the hands of Leftist activist “judges” being the final nails in the coffin.
They want it ALL, and at this rate, will get it.
Sorry to sound pessimistic, but with digital Serfdom promoted as “convenience”, the iron fist in a steel glove is the trap snapping shit, your very existence on that shiny new “smart” phone we carry, which if it gets stolen, it’s game over. Chipped like cats next, naturally to be sold as “protecting children” as that disarmingly named Online “Safety” Act was.
The country is rapidly descending into authoritarianism not unlike the backdrop to the films such as “Children of Men”, “Minority Report”, “1984” but without a happy ending in sight.

I agree the liberals are doubling down but they would not need to do this if their ideology was broadly accepted by the people and was being seen to be working. The problem for the liberal left is that their view is increasingly not accepted by the broader population and is not being seen as working. The push that the liberals and leftists are making is not a sign of strength but panic and weakness. Sadly things are going to get a whole lot nastier as time goes on and the liberals and leftists engage in ever more authoritarianism in order to shore up their ideology.

  2. Liberalism is dead, because it is anything but liberal and a lot of us have woken up to the reality that “liberalism” is rigid, censorious authoritarianism given a misleading name, a Trojan Horse for control of we knuckle-dragging plebs who are too thick to wipe our backsides without government regulations and penalties for doing it incorrectly.

Correct. I’ve found that over the years it is those who call themselves ‘liberals’ who are the most eager to censor, restrict opinion and sip into authoritarianism.
