The period following the death of academic fantasist Jason Arday would have been easily predictable if anybody had deigned to do it. What was easily foreseeable was that Mr Arday’s death would bring forth the various race grifters and race baiters along with various supporter of diverse forms of identity politics. Lots of those who have promoted various types of identity politics, including the most divisive forms of that ideological strand, with all the force of a drunk vomiting, have come out to grift off of the death of Jason Arday.

One of the worst and most divisive of the passengers of the political clown car that govern us is Greater London Mayor Sadiq Khan. According to a post on the Ambush Predator blog Khan said this:

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “I’m devastated for the family and friends of Jason Arday. He faced an unacceptable public hounding and campaign of abuse. I know many Londoners will be angry and upset this evening. “Jason Arday was the victim of a pernicious public shaming that other people in his position simply wouldn’t have faced. His death was a tragedy, but once again it should be a wake-up call for all of us.”

Utter rot. The sort of public shaming that Arday was subjected to was not connected on the whole to his race expect where his race pertained to discussions about the University of Cambridge’s hiring policies. Khan, London’s Great Hypocrite, seems mightily concerned about public shaming or public textual attacks but too often says nothing at all about the political attacks on those who don’t go along with Khan’s particular brand of faux progressivism.

Khan is trying to make out that Arday was subjected to greater scrutiny because of his race which doesn’t appear to be true. It appears instead that the only racism that has occurred here was in the allegations that Cambridge erred on the side of too much credulity when presented with Arday’s academic record and backstory and who might have done so because of Mr Arday’s race.

Khan is gaslighting people into thinking that it is primarily Black or Asian or other minorities that are targeted for investigations into academic misconduct. A brief internet search will provide names that represent many different races and cultures all of whom have been accused or have been punished for academic misconduct. Here’s just a few of those from the Wikipedia page on academic scandals in social science.  Please excuse Wiki formatting.

“Mart Bax (Netherlands), former professor of political anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit, committed multiple acts of scientific misconduct including data fabrication,[289][290][291] with a 2020 article in Ethnologia Europaea characterizing Bax’s misconduct as “incredible and appalling.”[292] Bax, who as of 2020 has had nine of his research publications retracted,[293] was found in 2013 to have never published 61 of the papers he listed on his CV.[294][295]

• Bruno Frey (Switzerland), an economist formerly at the University of Zurich, in 2010–11 committed multiple acts of self-plagiarism in articles about the Titanic disaster. Frey admitted to the self-plagiarism, terming the acts “grave mistake[s]” and “deplorable.”[296][297]
• Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg (Germany), former Minister of Defence of Germany, resigned from his office because of plagiarism in his doctoral dissertation from the University of Bayreuth. The university, which had awarded Guttenberg’s dissertation with summa cum laude distinction, revoked his Ph.D. title on 23 February 2011,[298][299] and Guttenberg resigned in March.[300][301][302]
• Michael LaCour (US), former graduate student in political science at UCLA, was the lead author of the 2014 article “When contact changes minds“. Published in Science and making international headlines, the paper was later retracted because of numerous irregularities in the methodology and falsified data.[303][304][305][306] Following the retraction Princeton University rescinded an assistant professorship that had been offered to LaCour.[307]
• Philippe Rushton (Canada), formerly of the Department of Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and former head of the white supremacist hate group Pioneer Fund,[308] engaged in “research [that] was unethical, scientifically flawed, and based on racist ideas and agenda.”[309][310] As of 2023, six of Rushton’s research publications had been retracted.[311]
• Diederik Stapel (Netherlands), former professor of social psychology at Tilburg University, fabricated data in dozens of studies on human behaviour,[312] a deception described by The New York Times as “an audacious academic fraud.”[313] Stapel has had 58 of his publications retracted.[314]
• Brian Wansink (US), former John S. Dyson Endowed Chair in the Applied Economics and Management Department at Cornell University, was found in 2018 by a University investigatory committee to have “committed academic misconduct in his research and scholarship, including misreporting of research data, problematic statistical techniques, failure to properly document and preserve research results, and inappropriate authorship.”[315][316][317] As of 2020, Wansink has had 18 of his research papers retracted (one twice); seven other papers have received an expression of concern, and 15 others have been corrected.[318][319][320]
• Francisco Gómez Camacho (Spain), a Jesuit priest and emeritus professor at Madrid’s Comillas Pontifical University, has had three publications about the history of economic theories retracted due to plagiarism.[321][322]
• Francesca Gino (US), a professor at Harvard Business School, was put on administrative leave after accusations surfaced that she had falsified data in multiple studies over a period of 10 years.[323] As of 2024, five of Gino’s research publications have been retracted.[324]
• Dan Ariely (US), a professor at Duke University, had a paper retracted over concerns about data fabrication, in addition to several other controversies about his data.
• Marc Hauser (US), an evolutionary biologist and former Professor of psychology at Harvard University, was found by a University committee and the US Office of Research Integrity to have fabricated and falsified data in his research.[325][326][327][328]
• Yannick Griep (Netherlands). Former associate professor of psychology at Radboud University was fired for fraudulent invoices at first, however, when the university further investigated it turned out that he also manipulated data [329]. Mid 2026 the journal Group & Organization Management from SAGE, where Griep was an editor in chief, retracted 8 of his papers[330]. “

We have in this list of names those from different countries, different races, different political ideologies who have all been suspected of or punished for academic misconduct in some form or another. Some of the cases are related to data falsification and manipulation, some ethical, some related to plagiarism. None of these were targeted because of their race and neither was Arday. He was being judged not for the colour of his skin, but as the great Dr King once said, because of the content of their character’. Arday messed up and got caught out just as many White academics have been caught out. Khan is utterly wrong. Academics do not get targeted, at least in well run Western universities, because of their race, they are targeted because someone somewhere asked awkward questions about an academic’s research or publications. This is what happened to Mr Arday. Someone asked the same awkward questions of Mr Arday and his employers as has been asked thousands of times regarding White academics or academics of any race. That’s not ‘racism’ no matter how many times the likes of Khan might wish it to be or present it as, it’s people doing the right thing and calling out questionable conduct by academics and academia.
