There’s an interesting short video featuring Professor David Betz talking on the Daily Heretic podcast. It makes for frightening viewing as Professor Betz outlines how quickly a stressed society like Britain can collapse into civil disorder.
In this video Professor Betz points out that there are already situations occurring that indicate that general societal norms have broken down or are in the process of breaking down. Professor Betz uses the example of London’s ‘Blade Runner’ group, a loose connection of activists who are chopping down London’s hated ULEZ cameras. What Professor Betz points out that the Blade Runners are often operating in broad daylight but the public are not reporting the Blade Runners to either the police or Transport For London which suggests that the Blade Runners have a large degree of public support. Professor Betz is correct, when you have large numbers of people in a society that turn a blind eye to something like the activities of the Blade Runners in part because they believe that the State is not on their side, then you have a society where normal rules start to not apply as much as they may have done. Professor Betz pointed out that there have been very few arrests of Blade Runner activists which does strengthen the view that the Blade Runners are popular and because they are popular they are not being grassed up.
Professor Betz also brought up the issue of the London riots of 2011. Professor Betz said that although there were thousands involved and on the streets and maybe indulging in some criminality there were a much smaller number of actual hard core rioters. However even with this split between active rioters and other participants the police found it difficult to marshal the resources to control the riots. Professor Betz asked viewers to imagine what might happen if the lifeblood of our towns and cities, electricity was cut off not once or twice but on numerous separate occasions? He said it might create a situation where there might be a ratio of many more active rioters to others out on the streets.
What Professor Betz is saying should worry us. Whilst our society looks solid it is also fragile and maybe much more fragile than it should be. We have a situation where extreme division has been created and fostered by government via multiculturalism and migration, economic woes that have impoverished many Britons and making them much more likely to think that they’ve got nothing left to lose if things all kick off and we have, due to Net Zero, an energy system that is liable to fall apart if we lose one of the Continental Interconnectors or the unreliable renewables go down. All of these things individually and together are a potential and an actual problem with regards to societal fragility. In Britain we have much of what would be needed to send us all into a situation of collapse. We have government, policing, public services that either don’t work and therefore attract little public loyalty and massive distrust of institutions. This is a bad place for a nation to be and it might only take a little push for Britain to be in a situation where Britain could be 48 hours from a total collapse.
