From Elsewhere: Over-zealous political correctness in schools

It will have been apparent for a while that schools are spending more time on politically correct indoctrination and less on the things that they need to do, such as teaching children to read and write and the skills they need to undertake further learning.  However, things in Scotland are getting really bad according to the blogger ‘Life – No One Ever Said It Would Be Easy’

SCANDAL OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL ‘RACISTS’ CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS FIVE ARE BEING LABELLED RACISTS IN SCOTLAND’S SCHOOLS AS PART OF A “WITCH HUNT” BY POLITICALLY CORRECT ZEALOTS.

Documents have revealed playground squabbles between children are recorded as hate crimes and kept on file by education authorities for the rest of their school lives.

Data released under the Freedom of Information Act revealed that almost 1,400 “monitoring forms” have been filed by teachers across the country since 2011 – the equivalent of nine young children a week being branded bigots.

One youngster in Falkirk was put on file as being racist for asking if “a younger pupil was wearing make-up” – an incident which saw the boy’s parents called in and the whole school subjected to a special assembly on “equality and race”.

Another primary school pupil in the Falkirk area was put on file for telling a classmate “that if he went to Pakistan he would be mistaken for a Pakistani”.

A child in the Highlands had a racial incident form filled in about them for singing a Rangers football song in the playground.

Teachers fill in forms stating if primary pupils have suffered racism or “socio-economic discrimination” or been bullied because of their “transgender status”.

Copies of “prejudice-based incident monitoring forms” show how teachers repeatedly refer to youngsters as “the perpetrator” and describe how children have been “isolated from class” due to remarks made.

Some education authorities require the victim of perceived racism to fill in a form, which includes questions such as: “Have you ever identified as being transgendered?”

Chris McGovern, chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, said: “Children should be taught to have respect for their peers, whatever their background or colour. But common sense must prevail here. Young children do not always understand the terms or phrases they use, so that should be taken into account. It seems that this has turned into a witch hunt.”

Nick Pickles, director of civil liberties campaign group Big Brother Watch, said: “Teachers should be able to use their common sense to deal with these situations, without needing to report every last word to some faceless bureaucrat.

“This is a clear example of an overzealous system that is forcing teachers to spend time filling out countless, unnecessary forms instead of being able to focus their attention on doing their jobs.”

This is appalling and may help to persuade those parents who are able to home-school.  What is going on in these Scottish schools isn’t learning, it’s indoctrination.  How long before these ‘teachers’ start trying to persuade their charges to grass on parents who hold views that are unacceptable to the political Left?  It’s time these Marxist Pied Pipers pretending to be teachers were removed from Britain’s schools.
