From Elsewhere: What a surprise. Imagine my shock.

I ironically uttered the words ‘what a surprise’ when I found out earlier via the Guido Fawkes site that one of the campaign groups that are attacking GB News is founded and employs an ex-BBC employee. I must admit that I’m really not surprised at all to find out that a person who is said to be formerly connected to the BBC’s commercial arm is running an organisation that is primarily concerned with harming an entity that is a competitor of the BBC.

This is what Guido said about this particular individual:

The website BoycottGBNews.org, which has spent the last 24 hours celebrating various corporate boycotts, says it is a “campaigning website from Ripples”. A quick search of Companies House shows Ripples Campaigning was co-founded, and is run, by Louise Wikstrom. Louise, who appears to be their only employee, was a senior content producer at BBC Worldwide for three years.

Basically what is happening is that Ripples, which according to Guido is a left leaning campaign outfit, has set up a site to encourage boycotts of GB News by advertisers, So who could possibly benefit from this sort of campaign? It’s not the advertisers who are losing out on a lot of the ABC1 viewers that GB News is garnering that much is obvious. The primary beneficiary of this campaign is the BBC who gain from the hampering of a rival broadcaster.
