Another one bites the dust. May there be many more.
News has come in that another Jihadi from Portsmouth has been killed by counterjihad forces in Syria.
Here’s what ITV news said about this case earlier today.
“A British jihadi from Portsmouth has been killed fighting in the Syrian Kurdish town of Kobani, currently besieged by Islamic State (IS) militants.
The family of Mehdi Hassan, 19, confirmed to ITV News that gruesome pictures of his body on social media were authentic.
Hassan, who went by the name of Abu Dujana in Syria, attended a private Catholic school in Hampshire.
As a teen he was a keen reader of Roald Dahl and Harry Potter and had intended to study international politics at Surrey University.
But instead of arriving at university in September last year, he travelled to Syria to fight with four other young men from the Portsmouth area – to the horror of his shocked parents.
Three of the group are now dead, one is seriously injured, and one is in jail in Britain after returning from the war.
A statement from Hassan’s family said he had a “good heart” and was trying to “help Syrians”.
The family also suggested that the teenager had considered returning home from Syria but was worried by the threat of prosecution on terror charges.
We can confirm that this is indeed Mehdi Hassan. We request that the family be left to grieve.
Mehdi was a loving boy with a good heart wishing to help Syrians. In recent months he had expressed the intention to return home but was worried about the repercussions. This is a tragedy and a lesson.
MEHDI HASSAN’S FAMILY
My messasge to the family would be this: How on earth do you think that joining up with a bunch of theocratic fascists like ISIS was ‘helping the Syrians’. If this is what they describe as a ‘good hearted’ person I’d hate to see what they would describe as evil.
The more of these Islamofascist jihadis who are killed in foreign war zones the less there are available to trouble this unhappy world and also less of them to come back and trouble the United Kingdom. I try not to celebrate the deaths of others but for jihadis I will make an exception to that rule.
