2017 starts as 2016 started, with Islamic murder

The year 2016 was a year of unmitigated Islamic terror across the world. On New Years Day 2016 ISIS allegedly rounded up 300 African migrants in Libya and murdered them. Fast forward to New Years Eve 2016 and we have the awful spectacle of 39 people being murdered in an Istanbul nightclub by a gunman ‘speaking in Arabic’.

Press reports and bloggers are stating that two gunmen dressed as Santa Claus and said to be ‘speaking in Arabic’, entered the nightclub after killing security guards and then fired indiscriminately at New Years Eve revellers.

According to the news agency Agence France-Presse the attack took place in an up scale area of Istanbul on the European side of the Bosphorous Strait. At present it’s not completely clear who carried out the attack but although Kurdish separatists may be suspects for this atrocity, the use of Arabic by the attackers could also point to this being related to the wider problem of Islamic terrorism.

AFP said:

Thirty-nine people were killed and dozens wounded Sunday when a gunman reportedly wearing a Santa outfit stormed a popular Istanbul nightclub and sprayed bullets at revellers celebrating the New Year.

Here is what we know about the massacre, the latest to rock Turkey after a bloody 2016.

The assailant shot dead a policeman and a civilian at the entrance to the Reina nightclub and then went on a shooting rampage inside, officials said.

Istanbul governor Vasip Sahin wasted no time branding the bloodshed a “terror attack”, the latest to strike Turkey after a wave of assaults by Islamic State jihadists and Kurdish guerrillas.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said the search for the attacker was continuing.

Dogan news agency said there were two gunmen dressed in Santa outfits, although this has yet to be confirmed. According to some witnesses cited by Dogan, the attackers were “speaking Arabic”.

TV pictures showed ambulances ferrying the wounded from the scene as police cordoned off the area.

The attack took place at the swanky Reina nightclub in the Ortakoy district on the banks of the Bosphorus on the European side of the city.

There were reportedly as many as 700 people dancing to celebrate the New Year, which chimed in barely an hour before the attack.

So this year begins like last year with an atrocious act of alleged Islamic terror and this bodes ill for the future. I fear the coming year will see more and more Islamic atrocities committed across the the world and an every growing pile of dead bodies that can be attributed to the followers of a immoral 7th century Bedouin called Mohammed. This situation will continue to get worse until the politicians of all civilised nations recognise that Islam poses an existential threat to other religious belief systems, ideologies and civilisations. I fear that 2017 will be the year when ever more people become victims of this sick ideology called Islam but I’m optimistic to hope that as the number of atrocities committed by those following Islam increase, so also will opposition to Islam and its Quislings, grow.

Civilised nations are now at a pivot point in history. They can wrap themselves in comfortable lies about Islam being a religion of peace and other falsehoods about Islam, in which case we will have an ever growing death toll from Islam and possibly see some Western nations destroyed because of that decision. On the other hand civilised nations could take a large dose of the unpleasant but necessary medicine of reality and start to deal more firmly and in some cases harshly with an ideology which produces violent savages with all the ruthless efficiency of a car factory’s robotic assembly line.

Until we recognise that Islam is a violent untrustworthy ideology that produces a surfeit of bad and violent people, then we will continue to suffer attacks like the ones that we saw so many of in 2016. We have to be honest about Islam and what it is and what it does to societies and individuals it encounters. Although we must quite rightly recognise that there are many Muslims who ignore the harsher teachings of Islam or are themselves fleeing from Islam’s strictures that should not mean that we judge Islam by the Muslims we know or judge Muslims by the Islam we know. Islam creates bad people as its default position and those who are not bad are not that way because of Islam, but in spite of it.

We will continue to see Islamic atrocities and they will get worse and hopefully we will start to see Islam not merely as one religion amongst many, but as a threat to any society or nation that allows it to metastasise within its borders. Innocent people will continue to suffer appalling and untimely deaths for as long as we tell ourselves comforting lies about Islam. The situation will only change for the better when we elect politicians who are far more cynical about Islam than are the ones who govern us at present.
