Friday Night Movie number 134 – Sleuth

Sorry that there has been an extended gap in the ‘Friday Night Movies’ as I have been busy with lots of other stuff including a lot of important real life stuff. Anyway, the Friday Night Movie feature is now back and this week’s offering is a stonker.

‘Sleuth’ a two hander movie featuring Michael Caine and Lord Lawrence Olivier is the tale of a rich man Andrew Wyke, played by Lord Oliver, who invites his wife’s lover, Milo Tindle, played by Caine, to discuss his wife’s affair man to man. Wyke tells Tindle that he is happy that his wife is having an affair and he would be glad to be rid of her to Tindle. Wyke convinces Tindle that he could assure himself that his wife could live with Tindle in ‘the style that she has become accustomed’ by means of her jewels. Wyke convinces Tindle to take part in an elaborate fake burglary plot only to find that things are not what the seem.

This movie is in my opinion one of the best British movies ever made and shows that making a movie of a play in a restricted play like format, can be really successful.

I have very much enjoyed this movie and was pleased to see it available for the moment and I hope that you enjoy this movie too.
