Friday Night Movie 150 – Fate Is The Hunter

A terrific, well written and well acted air crash drama for you all this week. Fate Is The Hunter, made in 1964 and starring Rod Taylor, Glenn Ford, Jane Russell, Nancy Kwan and Suzanne Pleschette, tells the story of a jet airliner that crashes killing all but one, a stewardess played by Ms Pleschette, of the 54 people on board.

The pilot, Jack Savage, played by Rod Taylor, is an old friend of the airline executive, Sam McBane, played by Glenn Ford, tasked with investigating the crash. Shortly after the crash occurred, a group of journalists turn up at the airline officers bearing tales of alleged eyewitnesses who claim that Jack Savage was drunk before he got into the pilot’s seat. This doesn’t sound like the Jack Savage that the investigator knows. McBane then sets out to find out if these rumours are true and if there is any other reason for the crash.

His investigation takes him deep into the personal life and loves of Jack Savage and into areas of Savage’s life that he was previously unaware of.

I enjoyed this movie and I hope that you enjoy it too.
