Islam is not like other belief systems and those who choose Islam are different from those who choose other faith paths. You rarely if ever see those who choose Christianity, Judaism or Buddhism deciding that what they must do to fulfil the tenets of their faith is to go out and kill people or plot to kill people. Those who choose Islam on the other hand, do seem to be significantly overrepresented among those who go out and commit or plan to commit acts of religiously inspired violence. I put this phenomenon down to two things. Firstly Islam is a violent and aggressive ideology and therefore attracts violent people and secondly Islam creates violent followers because Islam’s tenets are violent.
I’ve covered a number of these cases where people choose Islam and then pretty swiftly go ‘full Islam’ and take part in or are caught planning some atrocity or other. You can find them by putting the words ‘convert to Islam’ in this blog’s search box, you will, if you search using this term, find that there is an awful lot of these violent converts.
Over in the United States another potentially dangerous convert to Islam has come to light and one to add to the lengthening list of those who choose Islam and then become a threat to others. According to the broadcaster CNN (h/t ROP), a convert to Islam stole a rental removal van and planned to drive it into people at a shopping centre near Washington DC in a vehicular jihad attack.

A man inspired by ISIS stole a U-Haul van and planned to drive it into a crowd of pedestrians at National Harbor, a shopping and hotel complex just outside Washington, DC, the Department of Justice alleged Monday.
Prosecutors in Maryland argue Rondell Henry, 28, should be detained as a “flight risk and danger to the community.” According to a motion for detention, Henry is alleged to have been inspired by ISIS, “prepared to die for his cause” and to have stolen a vehicle in order to “use it to commit mass murder in the pattern established by ISIS.”
The memo further alleges that Henry “walked off his job … in the middle of the day, determined to walk down the extremist path.” He then stole a U-Haul van in nearby Virginia, and while he would have “preferred a larger vehicle … his impatience to act spurred him to opt for the good rather than wait for the perfect.”
Henry, who is charged with “interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle,” allegedly drove to National Harbor on March 27 and wanted to “create panic and chaos” as happened in a 2016 truck attack in France, but he didn’t find a sufficiently sized crowd. He hid on a boat overnight, according to the Justice Department, and was ultimately arrested after authorities found the location of the stolen vehicle at National Harbor.
Henry is scheduled to appear in court in Greenbelt, Maryland, on Tuesday. An attorney for Henry was not immediately listed.
A question for you all. When was the last time you heard of a new Jew or a new Christian or a new Hindu act like this? The answer would be that this sort of behaviour is so rare as to be almost unheard of. It is only with Islam and those that choose it do these sorts of incidents occur. Henry is a man who chose a bad path and chose it freely. He walked into Islam and decided that what Islam wanted him to do was kill non Muslims. This is why we should be wary of those who choose Islam. Those who choose to follow this ideology all too often end up like Henry and become a threat to innocent people. If someone chose Stalinism or Nazism as the ideology by which their lives would be guided then we would not be at all surprised if such a person turned out to be a thug or a killer or a terrorist. We should not therefore be surprised when those who choose the violent, aggressive ideology of Islam are apprehended plotting violent aggressive acts.
