Remainer tears – I think I’m going to need a much bigger bucket

The Remain supporting middle class Left and the media class are crying their eyes out at the moment because of the news that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is planning to ask Her Majesty the Queen to prorogue or suspend Parliament. Various remainiacs are going completely apeshit over this despite other governments in the past proroguing Parliament for much longer than Mr Johnson is planning to do and this Parliament being one of the longest since the end of the Civil War.

The public are being treated to the sight of the delicious irony of many of those who have tried to stop the democratic vote to leave the EU, such as Lord Andrew Adonis, Anna Soubry and various pro-EU Liberal Democrats, denouncing Mr Johnson’s plans as being against democracy. We’ve also been treated to the continuing unedifying sight of the Speaker of the House of Commons, Mr John Bercow, a man who should be broadly neutral in these matters, spluttering about how suspending Parliament is a ‘constitutional outrage’. Personally I think that the greater constitutional outrage is less this suspension of Parliament and much more Mr Bercow’s attempt to thwart a democratic vote by the public when the decision whether or not to leave the EU was granted to the public by Parliament. In addition we have had a representative from the Green Party call for people to take to the streets to protest the suspension of Parliament.

These Remainacs, especially those in Parliament and in the media class, are seeing their opportunity to stop Brexit reducing because of this suspension of Parliament and they are crying greatly about this. Good let them cry, they stood in the way of a decision by the public to leave the EU and are now getting a taste of their own medicine.

Boris Johnson seems to have managed to outmanouver Remainer plans to block Brexit via a House of Commons whose view on the issue of the EU is counter to that of many ordinary Britons. In effect Mr Johnson has used the weapon of backroom plotting to hit back at a group, the Remainers, who have caused so much damage and delay to the Brexit process, that has often used such backroom plotting as one of their strategies.

Boris must have done the right thing for so many Remainers, Lefties and Green EU supporters to cry so much. If this goes on and Mr Johnson continues to out-think his opponents then I might have to change my Remainer tears bucket for something much larger.

  1. All’s well provided Boris doesn’t use it to sneakily implement May’s WA without the back-stop.
