Another violent ‘Sharia chooser’ comes to light

Oh look! Another convert to a ‘peaceful’ religion.

A Kazakhstani convert to Islam who is accused of being an ISIS top sniper has had an application for bail refused by a court in the United States after prosecutors claimed that the accused was an unrepentant Jihadi. A court hearing into the case of Ruslan Maratovich Asainov, aged 42 determined that the defendant posed a danger to the community if given bail. He was therefore remanded in custody until his next court appearance on December 11th.

Asainov is accused of providing materiel support to ISIS and was arrested back in July of this year following an investigation by US law enforcement. The court heard that the prosecution believed that not only was this man a flight risk due to his contacts in both Syria and his native Kazakhstan but he also would harm Americans if given bail. The prosecution claimed that the defendant would ‘take up arms’ against the USA and its citizens if he was released on bail.

The prosecutor, Saritha Komatireddy, claimed in a report in the New York Post (h/t ROP) that Asainov confessed to investigators that he would go back to supporting ISIS if he was free to do so. The prosecutor said that Asainov would: ‘take up arms in support of ISIS again.’ She added that Asainov was a ‘high level’ member of ISIS and considers himself a citizen of ISIS.

Asainov’s defence counsel, Susan Kellman, told the court, presided over by Judge Nicholas Garaufis, that her client had converted to Islam and now completely follows Sharia Law. She added that Asainov does not recognise American law only Sharia Law and that she had to enter a plea of not guilty on Asainov’s behalf as he refused to plead.

The case of Asainov is one that is becoming depressingly familiar to me and to others who observe the crazy and violent world of Islam. This man is but one of many individuals who have converted to Islam and gone straight to Jihad without passing or picking up any shred of peace. This is not a situation that we see very often if at all with those choosing to join other faiths whether they be monotheistic or polytheistic. You don’t get new Christians or new Jews or new Buddhists suddenly deciding to go all medieval on the arses of their neighbours of different faith. You really only see this sort of behaviour with those who convert to Islam. Surely this sort of information is all that you need to be able to determine that Islam as a faith and an ideology is different, and not in a nice way, from other spiritual paths? Although I believe that people should be free to follow or not the deity or philosophy of their choice, when it comes to those who choose Islam then I believe that some degree of wariness and suspicion is more than a little justified. Those who choose Islam knowingly and in full awareness of what Islam is and what Islamic scripture contains, should not be seen as the equals of those who choose other much more genuinely peaceful religious paths.
