Shameful treatment of British military veterans

The British people at least in the Post WWII era, have been appreciative of Britain’s military veterans. We have contributed literally billions of pounds to military charities over the years in order to help those former British military members who have been physically or mentally traumatised by war.

Yet despite the massive amounts of money we have contributed to these military charities it appears that they are sitting on massive cash pots that are not being spent whilst military veterans beg for help that often doesn’t arrive. An investigation by Sky News has found out that the top ten military charities are sitting on cash reserves of £277 million. Despite this massive amount of cash, there are still far too many veterans who are homeless, jobless and dealing with the physical and mental damage done to them by their service to us and this country.

Everyday it seems that there is a veteran who kills themselves or commits a crime that leads them to be imprisoned and back in the regimented world that they are familiar with or who ends up sleeping on the streets. It is a shameful scandal that this is happening while these charities are sitting on so much money that could be spent on helping the people it was intended to help.

Whilst I accept that all charities have to have reserves to tide them over difficult times or to meet future estimated requirements, when we put money into a collecting box for a military charity we expect it to be used to help those who need it, not just sit in the bank accounts of the various military charities. This is a shameful scandal of monstrous proportions that should not be happening. Britain has had troops in various theatres of war or conflict almost continually since the end of WWII. British troops have been in Korea, Malaya, Africa, Northern Ireland, the Gulf, Afghanistan and the former Yugoslavia to name but a few. Far too many of those who have served appear to have been abandoned by the very charities that were set up to help these veterans.

The plight of veterans in Britain is disgusting. They are treated badly by the government and that is bad enough. Our veterans are often treated worse than the criminals in our prisons and certainly worse than the sometimes dangerous ‘refugees’ that the Left and even our own government imports in massive numbers. If what the government have done to our veterans is bad, the news that military charities are sitting on money that could be spent on helping those in severe distress and hurt, is worse.

It’s time for these military charities to be called to account. They need to explain exactly why and in great detail why so much money that could be spent on our veterans is sitting unused as reserves?

In all# honesty all charities have to ensure that they have enough money to guarantee that they can continue operating. This may mean that they have to invest their funds and carry out their work using the interest on their investments.

The results of spending all their income straight away can be seen with the failure that was kidscape (SPP?)

I would be interested in seeing how many execs, managers and penpushers there are and the salaries paid for these titles, while our ex-servicemen are ignored.
