Even though I’m British, I like to take an interest in American politics. Not only is it a subject that I find fascinating in itself but American politics, even some relatively local politics, does have an influence on the wider world. When America sneezes, it’s often us Britons that catch the metaphorical cold. We have seen for example how the ideas from some of the wilder shores of the American academic Left have, in the case of gender ideology and politically correct ‘woke’ culture, had malign influences on the lives of Britons as well as Americans.

One story I took a great deal of interest in is that of Ilhan Omar the Congresswoman from Minnesota and postergirl for the extreme Left. Ilhan Omar is not by any stretch of the imagination a clean hands politician or even a clean hands candidate, her candidacy and time in office has been dogged by controversy and scandal. She has hung around with extremist Islamic groups like the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and has made several anti-Semitic statements as well as ‘putting in good words’ for convicted Islamic terrorists in her home state. Somali born Omar has had repeated and documented allegations raised against her that she committed immigration fraud and married her brother in order to do so. All this is on top of campaign finance violation allegations that have not gone away.

Ilhan Omar has so far been positively Teflon in the way that she has both batted away criticisms by shouting ‘racist’ or ‘Islamophobe’ at her critics, no muck has stuck to her, it’s just slid off, until now that is. It turns out that the volume and number of complaints about Ilhan Omar are not falling on deaf ears in the US law enforcement community. According to a report in the New York Post, the Federal Bureau of Investigations is now starting to take in interest in Omar and the shenanigans that seem to dog her life.

The New York Post said:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is reviewing claims Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother, The Post has learned.

Two FBI agents held an hours-long meeting in Minnesota in mid-October with a concerned party who handed over a trove of documents regarding Omar’s 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a source with knowledge of the event said.

At the meeting, first reported by website The Blaze, the agents discussed concerns the Somali-born Democrat married Elmi, a British citizen rumored to be her brother, so he could obtain a green card and study in America, the source said.

The two agents said they would share the information with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the US Department of Education, but did not commit to opening an investigation into the firebrand lawmaker, the source said.

If Omar did marry her brother, she could be found guilty of committing marriage fraud — a felony offense punishable with a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of up to $250,000.

The three government agencies said they would not confirm the existence of any ongoing or potential investigation.

Omar has of course tried to brazen out the allegations made about her and her brother and has said that they were ‘disgusting lies’, which to be frank is what I would have expected her to say about rumours that were circulating long before she was elected. Of course she’s going to deny this, she’s hardly going to confess to this and open herself up to criminal prosecution is she? I have been aware of Omar and the miasma of dodginess that surrounds her since at least 2018 but for those who cared to look a little deeper, others have been aware of Omar and her questionable words and conduct for much longer than that. The Powerline Blog for example talked about rumours about her marrying her brother circulating in Somali circles since at least 2016. As for her anti-Semitic statements, well they go back to 2012, long before she entered national politics, according to the Daily Wire.

Ilhan Omar was elected in large part by a communal whipped mosque vote that didn’t really care that she allegedly broke US law by marrying her brother, only that she made the right negative noises about the Jews and assisted Islam in US society and politics. All of this information was available to those who cared to look. Sadly the voters in Minnesota didn’t take on board or ignored Omar’s murkiness and voted her in. Also keen to ignore the massive skip fire which is Omar’s ‘principles’, family and statements, were the Islamic grievance mongers Tell Mama in the UK who lavished praise on Omar for becoming the first Muslim refugee to be elected to Congress. They also had access to the allegations about Omar but chose to ignore them. It will annoy many British taxpayers no doubt to find out that this publicly funded organisation (£1.9M last time I looked) was heaping praise on this dubious alleged ‘brotherf***er’.

I do hope that the FBI probe into the background and activities of Ilhan Omar is successful. Omar, like so many other political, ‘professional Muslims’ has brought little but division along with her very Islamic hatreds into US politics. From what I’ve seen and heard of the evidence against Omar it looks solid or at the very least is enough to cause suspicion about her. I hope that this time the FBI can give this Omar creature the metaphorical slap that she has so far avoided by screaming lefty snarl words at people who challenge her. She may find that although some journalists and others might be swayed by the worry about being called ‘racist’ or ‘Islamophobic’ by her, this gambit is unlikely to work with the FBI.

I really hope we are seeing the end of the political career of this appalling Islamist chancer.  If it is the end of Omar’s period of strutting on the national and international stage then being busted by the FBI for immigration offences would be a suitably just end to it. Ilhan Omar is a textbook example of the arrogant Islamic bully and like all bullies many of us would cheer if she was taken down a peg or two, especially if it is done by American law enforcement.
