A quiet but important victory against people traffickers for the British government.

About a week ago, almost unnoticed by most people, apart that is from noisy but poorly supported left wing activists, the British Government scored a major victory against the evils of people trafficking. What has happened is this: The Government has finally killed off the Dubs Amendment to immigration law brought in by David Cameron’s government in 2016 and therefore closed off the route that those posing as children or being presented by activists and traffickers as children to the Home Office, were using to enter the United Kingdom.

The Dubs Amendment was brought in at the behest and by the campaigning of former child refugee Lord Alf Dubs in order to allow ‘unaccompanied children’ who had been displaced by the Syrian civil war to enter and settle in the UK. This amendment was sold, not just by a very naive Lord Dubs, but by open borders fanatics in groups like Citizens UK (more about this group here), as a way of rescuing small children from the migrant camps that have sprung up in France. Sadly, as Britain found out, the reality was very different. Not only were those migrants making use of this scheme plainly not children, but young adults in their late teens/early 20’s upwards, with some in their early thirties, some of these migrants also turned out to be highly dangerous and ended up being involved in terrorist plots, such as the Parson’s Green Tube train bombing.

The UK government must have realised quite early on that they’d been conned by the pro-’refugee’ activists as it was not long before they reduced the number who were going to be allowed in via the Dubs Amendment scheme from an initial 3,000 ‘child refugees’ down to 480 and this lower number was revealed in spring 2020 to have been already reached. The government is still going to allow some unaccompanied ‘children’ into the UK but they can only come if their relatives are already in the UK,something that could be quite easily checked by way of DNA testing.

Killing off the Dubs Amendment, is a major blow against people traffickers who made use of this scheme to get pretend children into the UK and bypass normal entry procedures. The Dubs Amendment was a gaping hole in Britain’s border control procedures and it was campaigned for and pushed by left wing open borders activists who during the days of Cameron and May’s governments, had significant and high level access to Home Office ministers and senior civil servants. These Left wing activists along with pro-migrant NGO’s working in France used and abused the Dubs Amendment to get those who Britain really doesn’t either need nor want nor have any responsibility for, into the UK. Far from being a hindrance to people traffickers, which the Left say that it was, the Dubs Amendment was a useful tool for them as all the traffickers had to do was convince naive and stupid workers in NGO’s to take up the cause of a particular young looking but adult migrant and get them into Britain as a ‘child’ without there being proper checks on the migrant to see whether or not they were entitled to be here or whether or not they would be a danger to the rest of us.

The Dubs Amendment is dead and good riddance I say. The dishonest way that this amendment was sold to both Parliamentarians and to the public by the open borders activists turned my stomach. Those pushing for this amendment tried to claim that there was some sort of comparison between the dangerous, self entitled ponces who resided in the migrant camps in France and the genuine refugees of the pre-WWII Kindertransport who really were fleeing for their lives because of Nazi terror. I found this dishonest comparison being made by the open borders activists absolutely disgusting and to try to compare those genuinely fleeing death with the Calais migrants to be an abominable unhistorical lie.

With the demise of the Dubs Amendment the Government has scored a significant win against the people traffickers and those in left wing open borders NGO’s who work with and alongside people traffickers. There’s more to be done to protect Britain’s borders and reduce unwanted levels and types of immigration and the abandonment of the Dubs Amendment should be seen as only one battle in a long war. I pray that never again will we see such a legislative disaster as the Dubs Amendment has turned out to be and that never again will the left wheel out old naive men like Lord Dubs to promote their causes and use their influence in government departments to allow into the UK those who are not just not entitled to be here or who will be a burden on us, but who also end up being a danger to the rest of us. Nobody apart from the open borders freaks wanted the Dubs Amendment yet it is the normal average Britain who will have to live with the consequences of this dangerous and damaging piece of legislation.

  1. This is the problem with trying to do the right thing. Unscrupulous individuals try to take advantage of the goodness of people for their own gain.

We must always help the poor, destitute and vulnerable but we must recognise that we need to be strong against selfish and greedy individuals.

Hopefully, starting with this country, people will be educated to raise the next generations to be kind but strong people who do the right thing by themselves and others yet are not taken advantage of.

    There is always hope.

  2. Good that it’s gone, but abuse will continue

They are not asylum seekers, they are economic illegal imigrants. If they were asylum seekers, they would try and get asylum in the nearest country, not travel through many, across 1000’s of miles to reach the cash cow that is the UK. Deport them
