UK Cuba Solidarity Campaign. An immoral organisation that deserves to disband.

Many of us who are relatively politically normal understand that Communism has failed in Cuba just as it has failed elsewhere. We also understand that Cubans are rising up against Communism because it is plainly not delivering. I applaud the Cubans who are risking much to try to obtain freedom from Communism. However there are those who are somewhat politically abnormal and hold Cuba up to be some sort of socialist paradise who are getting more and more salty and more and more worried about the Cuba situation.

For the UK Cuba Solidarity Campaign (CSC), a far left group that supports the Communist government in Cuba, the last few weeks must be a living nightmare. For those members of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign who are self aware and intelligent, they must realise that the game is up, that the group is now defending the indefensible and that Communism as well as failing in Cuba is now becoming extremely unpopular.

However for others in the Cuba Solidarity Campaign the response to the upheavals in Cuba has been to double down on the support for Communism and to blame the USA for the Cuban people’s decision to voice their dissatisfaction with Communism. The Cuba Solidarity Campaign’s news page on their website is full of breathless denunciations of the USA and support for the ‘Cuban revolution’. There is very little if any acknowledgement that the heart of the problems in Cuba boil down to the very socialistic ideology that the CSC promote.

The tone of the articles on the CSC look increasingly desperate and verge on the unhinged. They look like the sort of articles put out by an organisation that realises that not only have they lost the argument between Communism and freedom, but that all the effort that they’ve put into defending Cuban Communism has been for nothing as this Communism is being rejected by the very same Cuban people whom they claim to support.

The CSC looks like a dying organisation and are flailing around in the manner of a fatally wounded animal. For many years the CSC has been at the forefront of painting a rosy picture of Cuban Communism but now that the reality of Cuban Communism is being exposed for all the world to see, the dichotomy between the reality and the false picture of Cuba put out by the CSC is becoming more and more noticed. I can’t see the CSC being taken seriously any more as they are not showing solidarity with the Cuban people, only with the Communists who are quite plainly oppressing the Cuban people. The CSC has become a thoroughly immoral organisation and the quicker it disbands the better.

I’ve never been able to understand the mentality of people who don’t revise their opinions on receipt of new evidence. To go on insisting that black is white, up is down and short is long long after you have been proven wrong seems absurd to me.

I believe that changing ones mind when presented with new evidence is better than clinging to an idea long after it has failed.

  2. I have read what Wikipedia says about CSC and found it disturbing that many trade unions have affiliations with it, in addition to several Labour MPs including Corbyn. I don’t think that most trade union members support the communist dictatorship there, or even know they belong to a union whose leaders support a foreign dictatorship but it is sinister that people who have communist sympathies are running trade unions. I would like to have a McCarthy style purge of all Marxists who infest important positions within our society. We won the Cold War but there is still some mopping up to do.

Just had a look at the Wiki page on the CSC and it is in deed disturbing. There are three unions that I was once members PCS, GMB and the NUJ who are supporting a regime that treats its public workers like dirt and which has no real free press. There’s names on the alleged supporters list that really don’t surprise me such as Richard ‘meathead’ Burgon, Chris Williamson and Andy De La Tour who appears to be a socialist and who is the sister of the very left wing (Workers Revolutionary Party) actress Frances De La Tour.

There are an awful lot of socialists and Communists in influential positions in the UK. Normally I’d be in favour of people being free to have their own political conscience but I can’t deny that Communists in influential positions has not always worked out as being best for Britain. We did indeed win the Cold War but we did little about the Communists who were embedded in various organisations here at home.
