A Presidential speech that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Sometimes the words of American Presidents live on for all the right reasons and the words are indelibly linked to the President in question. For example: When you think of Abraham Lincoln then you immediately think of The Gettysburg Address. However there are other words spoken by US Presidents that are linked to them for all the wrong reasons.

President Joe Biden’s comments at a press conference back in June of this year stating that the Afghan government would not collapse and denying claimed intelligence reports that the are words that will haunt him and might even end up defining his Presidency. These words could define the Biden presidency in the same way that the words spoken by Richard Nixon when the Watergate Scandal broke that ‘there will be no whitewash at the White House’, came to sum up the Nixon administration.

Have a look at the Biden video below and tell me that this won’t be what people remember about Biden or how Biden will be treated by the historians. Whilst President Trump was not perfect and had his faults, I don’t think that he was so quickly humiliated by events or by his assessment of events as Biden has been over Afghanistan.

  1. If this had been Trump saying this the MSM would have set upon him like a pack of wolves. Another nail in the coffin of the credibility of the MSM.

Yes indeed. By being politically biased like this and being very obviously so, causes distrust in the MSM and this means that when the MSM says something that is true and is information that is vitally important to be conveyed to the audience, the MSM will not be believed. We would not have heard the last of this if Trump had made such a monumental error yet the MSM is giving Biden a free pass on it.

  2. I’d like to say I have some sympathy, but I can’t & I don’t.
The Americans, their media campaigned for & supported Biden and his party of lunatics. They’re now stuck with them while STILL trying to lay it on Trump with media connivance.
Afghanistan is & always was, lost. The suffering was, is & will be terrible, but never lose sight of the fact that they want fundamentalist brutal Islam otherwise the people would’ve driven it out years ago. It’s the same in that craphole of the world Pakistan. Not so in Iran, whose cultured people would like to see the back of the Ayatollahs yet who AGAIN have been thwarted by Biden, Blinken & Kerry.
Afghanistan is finished & should be left to rot, not one more UK like to be wasted. Russia & China have been very quick to embrace the new old order & hopefully will both get shafted or bogged down.
I predict an influx of “refugees” who are anything but, unlike the brave translators, who will come to spread their Deobandist nihilism in UK mosques, while the police, councils & politicians sit on their hands, for fear of being called phobic.
I give the West about 20yrs as the collapse accelerates in identical manners to the Greeks & Romans, obsessed with gender and turning little boys into little girls, celebrity chefs while importing the barbarians to do the work that the decadent ones won’t do. Eaten from within. The Ichneumon society.

Trump may have to share some of the blame for the rather rapid pull out but it’s Biden who is President now and Biden’s decisions, or those of his handlers, who have made a bad situation truly awful.

Afghanistan is an awful place to have to have a military campaign in. Even Britain that at one point ruled one quarter of the earth’s surface couldn’t manage Afghanistan or control the unruly backwards tribesmen. Pakistan seems to be getting off scot free over the Afghanistan issue yet they’ve been involved there for years and given covert support to Afghan militants. You are correct that there is a big difference between Iran and PK and that is in the attitudes towards the Islamic headbangers. As you say in Iran there is pushback against them whereas in the shithole that is Pakistan, too many people seem to want the headbangers in office. I support and feel sorry for the Pakistani atheists who although growing in number, are not of a sufficient number to challenge the Islamic headbangers.

Commentators like Old Holborn believe that Afghanistan should be sealed off and left to be a seventh century Islamic theme park and a cautionary tale of what happens when radical Islam runs a nation and a society. This does have some appeal but it will be bad for the West if the Russians and the Chinese become involved there and give support to the Islamic nutcases on condition that they only aim their attacks at the West.

Already there are fools banging the drum for Afghan ‘refugees’,. Rory Stewart for one. He want’s every Afghan refugee allowed in. The problem is, as Apostate Prophet said recently, all those who could not stand living in a Sharia State, left Afghanistan a long time ago. There’s a good chance that the sort of ‘refugee’ that might arrive here from Afghanistan might be the sort we really don’t want. As for Deobandis, they already control or have influence in 45% of Britain’s mosques and the UK State seems blissfully unaware that the Deobandi’s brand of conservative Islam is rather too close to comfort to that of the Taliban’s.

I’m not sure I share your pessimism about the West. There are already academic and non academic pushbacks against the extremist gender nonsense and other strands of censorious wokery. Things could admittedly be better and they need to be if the West wants to win the challenges of the future, but I wouldn’t write off the West yet.

Sadly you are correct that groups like the Taliban don’t get to win unless they have a lot of non fighting support. As Mao said, the revolutionary fighter swims like a fish in the sea of the people.
