Never mind the quality feel the waste. Yet more NHS waste.

 

At a time when the NHS is having it’s annual bleat, one that goes back at least a decade, about how they will cope this winter, with many people unable to see a General Practitioner because GP’s have gone into hiding and waiting lists that are lengthening exponentially, the NHS has decided that this is the right time to piss over half a million pounds of public money up against the wall. Despite all the pressures that the NHS is alleged to be under and set against a background of Labour MP’s and campaigners crying about ‘underfunding’, the NHS has decided that what it really needs is yet more worthless and useless diversity staff.

According to a report by Guido Fawkes the NHS is appointing a slew of new diversity officers, some with salaries in the region of £93k to £108k to healthcare trusts across the country. Surely with the NHS in such disarray and with so many people denied the healthcare that they’ve paid for via their taxes, this money should have been spent on actual healthcare not diversity parasites?

Guido Fawkes said:

The NHS is once again on the lookout for the country’s finest minds to tackle its biggest post-pandemic problem: it’s currently advertising for 12 diversity, inclusion and social equality roles across the country, with salaries reaching up to £108,075. An overall annual bill of £618,612…

This is on top of the 8 diversity managers who were hired on £500,000 salaries at the start of this year, and includes managerial positions with responsibilities such as: “…Lead[ing] and support[ing] the effective delivery and implementation of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) approach through multi-functional teams [and] playing a fundamental role in the development and lived reality of a truly diverse workforce.”

£600k would, if spent on nurses would provide 24 full time nurses at £25k each. Surely this is what a healthcare provider should be spending money on rather than yet more useless diversity staff who make no impact at all on the quality of healthcare that patients receive.

The fact that this money is being spent on worthless diversity staff highlights one of the big failures of the NHS model and that is that those who use this service have no say in how it is run. The only entity that does have an impact on how the NHS is run is the government and Boris Johnson’s ‘Red Tories’ seem to have no desire whatsoever to halt waste like this and get the NHS doing what it is damned well supposed to do and treat sick people.

I despise the NHS I really do. I despise the excessive cost for what is often piss poor treatment and I despise the waste on nothingburger jobs like this. If you were one of those who were out last year clapping for the NHS then you should remember that is disgraceful waste like this that you were applauding and therefore you are a damned fool.

  1. Sadly, the NHS will probably find it easier to recruit 24 Diversity Panjandrums than 24 nurses. Supply and Demand…. Why the NHS (Envy Of The World) has to pay lots more for ‘talent’ that is in over supply than for skills which are in shortage, is a mystery buried deep in Whitehall.
