NHS piss money up the wall (again)

What would you do with £50m to £60m to spend over a five year period if you were a big noise in a public sector organisation that the entire country relied upon, an organisation such as the National Health Service for example? Logic would suggest that you spend that money on clinical care or on vital front line staff in order to improve outcomes for patients.

Unfortunately, logic is in very short supply in an organisation that is rapidly becoming a National Horror rather than National Health Service. According to a recent report on the Guido Fawkes site which is in turn based on a report by the Civitas think tank which can be found here, the NHS has spunked the amount of money stated above on a diversity project that abjectly failed. This diversity project, the Workforce Race Equality Standard’ (WRES), was intended to monitor equality in the NHS but failed to even achieve any success even by going by its own terms of reference.

Guido said:

The research finds that despite the estimated £50-60 million spent on WRES in the last five years, 8 of the scheme’s 9 diversity indicators have shown no significant improvement, all while ramping up the bureaucratic power of overpaid middle managers and ‘BME leads’. The report doesn’t hold back:

“WRES is the creation of a cohort of ideologically-minded individuals who benefit from the programme, while the costs are left to patients and the taxpayer. Ultimately, this means money is wasted and not spent on improving health.”

The Guido article then went onto explain that the lead officer for this project whose title is the NHS Chief People Officer Prerana Issar, was hired on a salary of £230k per year. This salary was as Guido said more than than the Chief Executive Officer who appointed her.

The British people are being hammered with both direct and indirect taxes including taxes specifically aimed at increasing the funding of the NHS such as the rise in National Insurance contributions. What we are getting for our tax bill is not an efficient, humane and effective national healthcare entity, but a sclerotic bureaucracy dominated monster that pisses up the wall up to £60 million over half a decade on stuff that is in the great scheme of things complete and utter bollocks.

Britons deserve a decent healthcare system, that is something that is obvious to me and should be obvious to others. Unfortunately we don’t get a decent healthcare system, we get the wasteful horror that is the National Health Service. We deserve better than this we need a healthcare system that provides healthcare not merely pointless jobs for equally pointless middle class leftists and diversity grifters.

  1. Even if all this diversity stuff was needed, rather than a complete waste of everyone’s time, the NHS would seem to be the last organisation to need it.

  2. Some health care system we have in UK, today my wife visited the practice surgery twice only to be told in the end she had to ring the practice. Basically anything will do to get you out of the door and out of mind. The information she was given on both occasions wasn’t correct and later she had to wait on the phone for almost an hour in the phone queue only to be told to sort it out yourself with the pharmacy tomorrow and ring again if that doesn’t work. Anything just to get you out of the door and absolutely no real help at all. An hour on the phone at day time rates and the prospect of the same again tomorrow, I have made official complaints about this practice to no avail. I have asked my MP for help to no avail. I honestly think they would just like you to go away and die quietly as long as they just go on raking in the money that will do.
