From Elsewhere: Good point. Just what exactly is there to be proud about?

There used to be a point in having gay pride marches and festivals. The point was to say to the wider world that gay people exist and are as good as you. But the time for shouty politics ended and normality and commercialisation began. It was almost inevitable that gay, later LGB pride events would become commercial as LGB people became more normalised over time and equality became not so much a dream as a reality. Prides became the party rather than the demonstration.

But why bother attending a Pride now? What’s the point? Of course it could be argued that there still is the need for a big gay day out or two, although maybe not a month of dishonest or insincere virtue signalling as it has all turned into. But what if Pride in the sense of organised Pride groups or Pride marches no longer represent your interests as a Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual person? What if the people that have emerged over time to take control of Pride events are not your friends, are not the friends of biological women or Lesbians or who have suspect interests in children and their genitalia or who promote dangerous pseudo-science about how it is possible to take a teenager who is questioning his or her sexuality and turn them into an ostensibly straight person of the opposite sex? What if the people organising your local Pride group are those who have a problem with same sex or both sex attraction? What if the homophobes are running your big gay day out?

A gay man who has asked questions similar to these and who has also asked ‘what do we have to be proud about’ is Dennis Noel Kavanagh. Writing on his Substack page Mr Kavanagh said:

Pride month” is a pointless cultural magnet for Vichy gays, biology denying handmaidens, cross dressing heterosexual males, cynical corporations, gutless politicians and foolish mediocrities adopting novel gender identities. Any sensible actual homosexual will run a mile from our overcrowded and conquered rainbow, daubed as it now is across corporate logos that once despised us and still do where supporting actual gays is a challenge and where it might threaten them making a buck, the Middle East being the most obvious example.

The simple reality is that the increasingly absurd LGBTWTAFOMFG movement is now an authoritarian bourgeois gender cult known mostly for ferociously demanding compliance with increasingly eccentric language games as it repeats the final demand of the Party in 1984 – to make the populace reject the evidence of their eyes under pain of cancellation. There is no rightful celebration to be had here, the crowded plastic rainbow is simply McCarthyism by gender, a snake eating it’s own tail so contorted by the demands of cross dressing heterosexuals it now promotes woke conversion therapy for gays

Mr Kavanagh invites readers to consider whether much that is promoted by Pride groups these days is anything to be proud of. He condemns those adherents of the gender identity cult who promote Pride who fly the rainbow flag and asks them whether they are proud of their homophobia, their misogyny, their cult like authoritarianism, their sucking up to corporate and trade union interests and proud of their ignorance in blindly promoting abusive and experimental gender transition programmes to children.

This is a really really powerful piece from Mr Kavanagh and I beseech people to read it whether you are LGB or not. It shows that there are principled and morally upright LGB people who want nothing to do with and wish to speak out about a gender identity cult whose adherents are now running LGB organisations and sending these organisations into the wrong direction.

  1. I wonder how many people in today’s world are really interested if someone is gay or not? Surly it’s only matters if you have an interest in becoming intimate with the person in question. If you have no interest in becoming intimate with the person then the world is full of far more interesting things than if they are gay or not.

We were heading towards the situation that many people who were LGB desired which is to be ignored, for sexuality to be little more than a ‘meh’ thing. Unfortunately the gender extremists appeared and tarnished the whole LGB lot with the taint of transgender lunacy.
